Anybody get any neat Halloween clearance items?

Post by vrb8919 » Sun Nov 10, 2013 12:17 pm

I got a fog machine, black light, strobe, and a few other smaller items for a pretty good price? How about you?

Yes, I got a black cat yard ornament for under $5 (originally $18). It is lit with miniature purple lights. Cat is looking to the side, has its paws out in front of it, rear end and tail stuck in the air (well, bushy tail is sorta flopped back over its back toward its head). Husband and I had been talking about adding a witch with a cauldron underneath our second redbud tree next year, and lighting the tree with purple lights. I think this cat will go well with that scenario.

I picked up a few things, some Halloween glasses that were kinda cool, some 'penny" candy, and a few odds and ends. Nothing overly awesome though!

Gotcha man. I understand, when money is tight it's best to not even put the temptation in front of you!

I didn't look at any stores for Halloween due to my lack of job. Good news is that I am about to enter a 15 week training program for an IT job. And if I pass the test at the end of the training, I have the job. And it pays more than I have ever made before. Unfortunately, the job doesn't actually start until April and I don't get paid for the training. But I don't have to pay for it either.

I didn't get anything also due to my lack of employment. Good luck with your training boogy. I have an interview today. Hopefully it goes well.

Good luck DD.

I got a rejection letter today for a job I interviewed about three weeks ago. I didn't expect to get the job based on gut feelings of the interview. But do you have to send me the letter two days before my birthday?????

And thanks Andy and Murf. I am also waiting on another one that I applied for two weeks ago. It also requires a background check, which thankfully eliminates a large chunk of potential applicants.

Boogy someone just told me to pick up a book called What Color Is Your Parachute by Richard Bolles. It is about finding out what job is right for you and marketing yourself. It has been updated yearly since the early 70's. So far it seems to be great advice hopefully you get this job you're training for but I would recommend this read to you(and anyone actually) regardless.

Here is a handy link to it on Amazon:

My problem is that I don't perform well in interviews. I have Asperger's Syndrome. So you combine the usual stress of an interview with my awkwardness in social situations and it doesn't end well. Add to that my inability to read cues people give and it is a bad equation.

How did your interview go DD?

Have confidence in yourself Boogey! People can sense your fear. Go in thinking you deserve the job. Also the hiring people want you to do well... That means their search is over. They hate interviewing as much as you hate being interviewed.

As for my interview I week it went well. The recruiter who sent me there said as far as he knows it's between me CBF one other guy they are sending. So hopefully I'm better than that guy!

That is good. I wish you luck. For my situation, confidence is not the problem. Do you know what Asperger's is.? People that have it don't do very well at all in most social situations. They often don't pick up on the verbal and non-verbal cues people give off, which makes the conversation awkward. There are other issues too for people that have it, but that is the big one concerning interviews/
