Sped up obviously. I read the other day that someone has created the world's first fully printed metal gun. That's sort of scary when you think about it. For now, the printing process used for the gun is prohibitively expensive for the average joe but we are just at the beginning of the new industrial age (or whatever the future will call it), the technology will become commonplace. You can already buy fairly cheap printers for your home that print in plastic.

I saw that story! That is so neat. Helps visualize the potential in this tech. I read that FedEx is going to put printers in their stores. You'll be able to send them a file and then pick up the object at the store, or have them deliver it. This will come in handy when you break the handle on your fridge or something like that. The downside of this technology is that there is about to be a whole new front in the fight against piracy opening up. Combine a printer with a 3-D scanner and you'll be able to duplicate a lot of objects which people would otherwise have to pay for.
