Hi Guys!
Been in a bit of shock for the last month. Got laid off from my job of ten years. I have finally accepted it all. Will have plenty of time to get ready for Halloween this year! :*)

Oh, what a bummer! But I've been in that situation. You'll be OK. You are not defined by your job.

Re: Hi Guys!
I would definitely wait until after Halloween to look for a new job. That's what unemployment benefits are for. That way you can concentrate on the thing you love most?
For that matter... wait until December 22nd. You may not have to bother.

Sorry to hear that Morticia! But bravo to you for being so positive about it. I have a friend in a similar situation. Fingers crossed for you!

Re: Hi Guys!
Well as far as finding something with better pay, that will probably never happen again in my lifetime, this was a government contract job, you don't get paid more for doing less then one of those jobs. LOL! BUT you guys are right. OOdles of time to get ready for Halloween this year! And I WILL make it like it's my last one - lol!

I'm sure she would have been happy for you to donate to her "retirement" fund haha I've been in that situation myself, and honestly as much as I hated it, a forced "break" was really an incredible thing. Enjoy it while you can!

Re: Hi Guys!
I remember it taking me over 9 months to find meaningful employment after I graduated from college. This was the recession of the early 80s. Before I got hired at my present job, I worked part time, on a temporary basis for Martial Fields. IT was the PITS, to put it midly. It didn't even pay enough to keep the gas takn full.

Re: Hi Guys!
Oh, sorry to hear that. What a shock it must have been. I agree with the whole shut door, open door thing. I, in a fit of madness one day, quit a job that I had been at for 9 years. About 2 months later, I fell into my current employment and couldn't be happier. Two months of wondering and worrying though, but keep your chin up and something will come along!
