I can catch a hundred links and watch a hundred shows but so many of these stories contradict what others say.

You're right Nos. There are mulitiple versions and stories about the origin of our favorite holiday. I guess you need to make you own decision which one to give the most weight to. I personally believe all of them. And what I mean by that is that I think the present day Halloween is the culmination of mulitple orgins: Roman and Celtic, Christian and Pagan. It's really quite American when you think about it. It's a melting pot holiday. Customs and traditions from these religions and cultures have been handed down over the centuries and combined to create what we all know as Halloween. Pretty Cool!
