It was so so. Put up a few decorations, rushed to get ready, wasn't to impressed that the kids started in broad daylight 5pm, I mean come on, what happened to waiting until it was dark out and people had their porch light on and pumpkins lite, I made a few comments to some parents about it, then got kinda upset as I couldn't even get changed so I put a notice out saying "No Candy until Porch light is on, pumpkins lit and it begins to get dark out"!! ANd I didn't get any of my older teens  No where near as many kids, it was very quite, and no kids after 8:30pm, so that was really a bummer  But I still have my spirit :D

Yesterday started out wonderful and stayed that way until right after all the TOT'ing. Then it went straight to Hell and turned out to be the worst Halloween I've ever had. But the kids had fun, and today at least means it's over.

I did get some good pictures I'll share with you guys soon.

my halloween was very nice. it started off w/ a scooby doo marathon on cartoon network that my daughter enjoyed until she had to go to school. while she was at school i folded some laundry and watched halloween 2. the school had pumpkin cookies and muffins for special snacks for the kids and talked about pumpkins (it's an autumn staple so it's a safe topic). they also had a hat parade (kids made their own hats) coz they couldn't do costumes or halloween (i'm not even going to start w/ that 1).
then the child and i walk home from school and the crossing guards hand out acandy to the kids, that was nice. we get home and i see the tivo recorded the haunted history of halloween , king of the hill halloween episodes and malcolm in the middle halloween episodes. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
we watched them and re-heated some leftovers for dinner (i wasn't about to cook) then 6 pm came around, the child put on her costume, i lit the jack-o-lanterns and other outdoor candles. it was still light out wich kinda sucked, but the kids did have school the next morning so they wanted to get as much TOTing in as possible. i don't blame them. so the hubby and i took her out for an hour and she got her bucket 3/4 full (mom stayed home to hand out candy.) after TOTing i took the child and mom to my friends house for her little get together (i'm glad mom came willingly. i didn't want to have to force her coz she was having a bad day and i didn't wanna make it worse, but i knew going out would be good for her) so we get to my friends' house (by then all the TOTers were pretty much done) we ate chilli, drank hot apple cider and watched the haunted mansion. my friend gave the child a whole bunch of candy coz she had a lot of leftovers. we got home at about 9 pm and my duaghter passed out right away, so the hubby and i watched some mythbusters and ghost hunters. i don't remember when i fell asleep but the next thing i knew it was the morning of nov 1. i'm not too depressed coz that means my birthday is less than 2 weeks away

We had a really great night-- 'till the Hellions (Hubby's brother's kids) got there. There's a reason they're called the Hellions-- use your imagination.

We had a really great time passing out candy. The weather was in the low 80's/high 70's 'till about 8:30, when we started picking up. It was NICE.... and thanks to getting stuck at work 30 minutes longer on Tuesday, I was able to skip out 30 minutes early for Halloween. The extra time came in handy and we were able to get everything set up at my in-law's place before the kids started coming 'round.

In all, we had about 120 ToTers come. (Though, some of them probably shouldn't count because they came to our place twice-- I know they came twice because we were the only house passing out glow bracelets... and they ALL had those and their costumes were suspiciously familiar). There was only one kid whose hands I wanted to smack... we'd already given him his glowstick and sack of goodies (glider, pencil, temp tattoo, bat ring, play-doh, bouncy eyeball, stickers, and chocolate)-- after giving him those things and sending him on his way, I started getting some other candy ready to pass out just in case we ran out of bags... the kid turns around and says "and I need some of those too". *head desk*

"No... no, you don't. You already have some in that bag."

Other than that and the Hellions, the night was fantastic.

Why did the hellions irritate me? They kept asking to blow out our candles, taking our genie lamp and trying to make the genie come out, standing in the way of the ToTers and us (which I think they get from their mom/dad because they did that too)... and then pestering us with questions: What's that? What are you doing? Can I help? Can I have candy? I want another glow bracelt... etc... etc. Thank the darkness they were only around for 10 minutes. Had it been 5 minutes more, we'd have had more gruesome Halloween decorations (that's a joke, by the way).

Overall it was a fun night-- and the pizza delivery guy at the end of the night probably LOVED us. I had so much leftover candy, I filled 6 paper sandwich bags half-full and we gave those to the pizza guy as an additional tip!

Did my road show to my son's place in another town, so Boney maroney, my decaying skeleton was tied in with a seat belt on the passengers side beside me. (It was that or the roof, and I don't have a rack..) So I'm leaving my place, and have my driving face on, and pulling out I couldn't figure out WHY this one kid was just STARING at the bus stop...
then I remembered..oh yeah.
Somebody took my pic in the car with Boney on their phone, so it if turns up on Youtube, you know it's me..(hint, I'm wearing an NYPD hat..) Set up at my sons took an hour, give or take, and he had FORGOTTEN my schuck with the dang microwave, so when the first kid comes up and I said;"Would you like a MICROWAVE treat????" My son doubled over with silent laughter as I opened the microwave oven to show the severed head and then stuck my finger into the exploded eyeball and pulled out the finger full of brown GUNK and LICKED it in front of him...The kid gasped and just STOOD there...rooted to the spot...My new Donna Dead was a hit, with one kid scared out of his socks when it started up beside him, later a toddler just stared...captivated...
Lots of dry ice in the ghoul juice and the static displays impressed as usual...
Eight trips to the car from my place to pull it off, but worth it all. Hugs with my son at the end and I told him thanks and we both told the other we had fun..but he is HOOKED now, i know he is...was telling his pals how NEXT year, he wants to do the scarecrow sitting on the front steps schtick with the scarecrow jumping up...I have some ideas that might work with that...
..and so it goes...

Worked during the day, went home, drove to the haunted house show to help out in the PM, handed out hundreds of little bat rings and glow fangs, saw revelers dressed all kooky, ate a sandwich, drove home, passed out. Decent, not the wildest nor the quietest...pretty fun!

My previous 4 Halloweens had been really disappointing so I was a little nervous about yesterday. But it ended up being very satisfying. I ate lunch in a cemetery, put some finishing touches on my Halloween decorations, and read the book October Dreams: A Celebration of Halloween until it was time for the trick or treaters.
I was with a few friends and we all wore scary masks--my severed head and chainsaw were probably too intense for the youngins' because two little girls were screaming and crying when they saw me. So I had to take off my mask for them and show that I'm actually human, hehe. I just think everybody needs a good scare on Halloween and I'm hoping we gave the trick or treaters something to remember.
Afterwards my friends and I watched Fright Night, Night of the Demons 2, and Halloween while drinking lots of wine and beer. I don't think I fell asleep until 5 am. I am slightly hungover now but I'm delighted that my Halloween slump has finally ended!

My Halloween was great! The party went off without a hitch - it was a very stressful day and I certainly won't be doing party preparations on the day next year - I want to be able to go out and ENJOY my Halloween day instead of running around doing everything :? But yes, quite a few people turned up, everyone got on well, nothing got broken, no stains, no one was sick, it was great! My Halloween Horror Movie Music quiz went really well and people were pleased with their costume prizes :) Everyone thanked me for a lovely party and I think they all enjoyed themselves and I had a good time, so yay for Halloween - it all came together in the end!

I had basically the same yard haunt as last year: a cemetery. Dressed like the Grim Reaper and stood amid the mist escaping my fog machine. Had maybe 50 kids come. One lady informed me that my house is "famous in the neighborhood for Halloween decorations." That was a great compliment. I had my last TOT at about 8:30, so I put all my decorations away (sadly) and got ready to go play a show with my band.
That was amazing! I felt like such a rock star. People were dancing and cheering and shouting out names of our songs. It was incredible.

Who's already excited for next year?
