Halloween Night heads up alert

Hello everyone. This is my first post and why not start off with a bang. I don't want to burst anyones bubble, but mine was deflated today. Our local township trustees have set the time for halloween night. 6-8pm. Only problem is that here in southern ohio, with the time change taking effect after halloween night, it will be daylight when it starts. Do you see where I'm going with this. By the time its gets dark, we have had most of the trick or treaters and it will be over. Its like going to a haunted house and turning on all the lights. NO fun at all. I take pride in my display and want it to be enjoyed by all. But not much to look forward to this year. So, is anyone else in the same boat as me. I would highly recommend that everyone check now so that you can plan accordingly.

Yup, I knew that the delayed time change was coming and I didn't think it was a good idea.
Halloween night should be dark and spooky, not bright and sunny (sorry, exaggerating a bit). That's interesting that your town has such an early curfew. 8pm seems early to me. I think my town's is 9pm.
Anyway, Welcome to our forum Drew.

Wow I guess we are quite lucky.. our clocks go backward at about 2am, which means we get another hour of partying!

They don't trick or treat in my Los Angeles neighborhood anymore (sigh). I just put up a little display in the window and think back on fond memories...sounds like our buddies in the UK are well-situated though, so they can trick or treat into the night on our behalf!

Hey Drew we are happy you are on the board. That does stink about the curfew but it is to keep childrens safety at top priority. Maybe this could be a time to have a party or small get together of friends to watch scary movies or have a spooky dinner party starting promptly at 7:59.
Do you expect there to be heavy enforcement of this new curfew? Perhaps some parents wont catch wind of the new rule and straggle around. But there are plenty who will still enjoy your yard display when the sun does go down so keep it up!!!

Halloween curfews? What a bummer, and that's putting it mildly. I don't think there are any curfews here in Atlanta.

Hi Drew and Welcome to our spooky little home
That is terrible about your curfew, 6-8pm, like come on, what kind of Halloween are you suppose to have with hours like that
So how is this inforced? No trick or treaters permitted knocking on doors before or after those hours? Must not put up your displays before then/have them down by then? Could you explain what all is involved in this Spirit busting curfew.
I'm so glad we don't have any kind of set curfew for Halloween "Yet" my word, where's the freedom? And does the same curfew apply to Christmas?
Well Drew, I'm so happy you joined us, have fun checking out the many threads here and meeting all the wonderful spirits that roam here calling this place home.
Oh, hey, you'll be happy to know that we go all year round, and there's no curfew here, so you can always stick around year round with us
Look forward to chatting more with you.
