Just wondering if anyone has a Halloween ritual that they feel they must do each Halloween? In order for my Halloween to feel right I must visit at least one hayride, haunted house etc... I must buy a new Halloween decoration each year, and the month of October I usually buy all the Halloween oriented foods they have at the store......Like Cereals with Halloween packaging....silly I know but it puts me in the spirit ...how about you guys?

I must buy plastic Halloween toys and figure out how to give them away to as many people as possible!

Wow, Spooky sounds like you and I have the same rituals. I also do the haunted hayride, haunted houses and buy the halloween food. Just ate some Halloween Oreos as a matter of fact.

Mine is to set my largest Jackolantern out on the back deck and let the candle burn out into the dead of Halloween night. I love waking up in the middle of the night , looking out the back window and seeing it's dim eerie light flickering from the night wind.
I know, not very exciting, but it is a ritual I do every year.

Well every year I dig a shallow grave in the desert, find the biggest jerk that i've met that year.Grab a Machete, power drill, and hefty bags..and then I....
Oh I mean..uh..I hand out candy to children.

well i kick off the month of oct w/ my wedding anniversary. the husband and i usually go out to either the corn maze or a hayride.
throughout the month we take the child to as many halloween attractions as possible for her age group. this yr we're taking her to dorney park's (an amusement park) halloween festival in 2 weeks. we'll also go to a few pumpkin patches and go apple picking. we'll record any halloween special on tv during the month
i too must get any halloween food item (my dog ate all my halloween oreos
)
the weekend before halloween i have the child's halloween party, then either a party for us or we'll go to 1.
on halloween i MUST MUST MUST have chillie and hot apple cider. we'll take the child ToTing, then when she goes to bed we'll watch any ghost related show on tv til we pass out

Pumpkin everything. Pumpkin flavored coffee, pumpkin colored clothes (I heart my orange mary-janes, got em at Dillards) pumpkin chili, which is much better than it sounds, pumpkin desserts, you name it. I swear if you stuck me with a pin, I'd bleed orange.

Don't worry, NOS, your secret is safe with us.
Every Halloween, after everyone is gone and my husband and children are asleep, I like to take a cold one from the cauldron cooler and soak in the hot tub. VERY relaxing.

I am exactly the same way. My wife has a recipe she just found for pumpkin soup too.

Doc, Pumpkin Soup is AWESOME. My friends and I have a contest each year to see who can make it the best. One year, we even carved out small pumpkins and used them as bowls. Pretty cool!

HH and Doc, have you posted your recipes for the pumpkin soup? I'd like to give it a try this year.
