why, why, why?

I just read in entertainment weekly that fox is going to do a remake of rocky horror picture show. They're going to tone it down "just a little bit" to make it more television friendly. Who in their right mind thought this was a good idea? The only good thing I can say about this so far is that Richard O'Brian will most likely be a part of it.

Not to mention, there's going to be remakes of Poltergeist and The Crow, not to mention other classics. Are all the original ideas really gone?

I never heard of The Cube, but , from reading those comments, apparently this was a fairly popular franchise with a certain set. I think I was too old for it, and my kids were too young.

Cube came out when I was in college. I think it went straight to video. Despite being a sorta indie film, it was pretty good, I thought. I particularly enjoyed the start of the film where some poor fellow gets sliced to pieces. I also liked the deeper plot in a horror film. Weird that they are remaking it so soon... It was out around the time Thirteen Ghosts came out, and graphics in film were pretty decent.

I've never seen that one; guess I'll have to check it out.

I'd like to see the remake of Poltergeist just to compare/contrast it. Though the fact that some of the people who starred in the films died in real life is spooky to think about.

I have the original Poltergeist in my collection, and I think it holds up extremely well. I can think of no reason to remake it at all.

Money that is why unfortunately. Horror movies that are updated usually do well with money for a few weeks in the box office since most people really do enjoy seeing horror movies. But then the movie usually dies off when people begin to realize that the remake is the same as the original usually with updated technology and usually more blood and gore. Blood and gore does not always mean better. That is why my favorite movie for Halloween is simply: Halloween. It's perfect.

I like the original Halloween, too. It is not necessarily my favorite, but I do think it's a good one.

One of my favorites too. Tons of suspense and fright created by, spooky scenes, spooky music, etc., without all the blood and gore. Just the way I like my horror flicks.
