He also played FDR in a movie and pulled it off wonderfully. Looked AND sounded like him!

Son of Bernard Herrmann, legendary movie composer.

Most Hitchcock movies including the Birds which has no actual music, and Psycho.

Hands down the most recognizable movie theme ever.

This was the first thing I thought of when I saw this thread.

When I see him, I think of my favorite M*A*S*H episode. Wasnt he the one who played the doctor who came to relieve the staff, and ended up in the corner..saying.."the blood, no matter how many times I wash my hands..it won't come off?"

Sorry, never a regular viewer of MASH. I'll take your word for it.

Yep, that was him. It was in one of the later episodes when BJ, Winchester and Colonel Potter had joined the cast.

Colonel Potter and Winchester have the mumps and MASH need a replacement surgeon so they send Herman.

His character had seen heavy action, but was a prankster like Hawk eye and BJ. They thought he was a perfect fit with them. He later has a mental breakdown and leaves the operating room during a complex procedure.

He is later found in Colonel Potters tent and the others realize that he desperately needs psychological help and they call Dr. Freedman.

He was quite entertaining in M.A.S.H. and elsewhere.
