Yes in deed, only six more months, BUT I am going to enjoy Spring and Summer with a vengeance, because last Winter was a major drag.

Well deserved Mike. I grew up in the midwest and remember those brutal winters well. I now live in Southern California.

I thought about the date last night and knew my Halloween forum friends would be remarking about it! Isn't May Day something special, too? Is it Beltaine, or something like that?

Yes, it is Beltane, a pagan holiday. Hence, the tradition of the maypole.

Thank you, Season of the Witch. I'm thinking about San Antonio Texas myself.

I never knew about May Day. I do know that when ever the 13th of the month falls on a Friday, it's supposed to be an evil or 'bad luck' day, which is why I observe 'Little Halloween' every time the 13th is on a Friday.
