I wouldn't trade the experiences I had, and the friends that I made during the 27 years that I lived in California, but I am astonished that I had taken all of this for granted while growing up in Oregon.

I will never take it for granted again.

Yesterday I spotted my first autumnal-themed magazine at the grocery store.

Heat index is well over 100 degrees due to humidity. I think everyone starts longing for fall when the summer heat is so brutal.

I'm in no hurry to get to Fall, but while Summer is my favorite season for fun in the sun, October is my favorite month of the year. As for the first signs of Halloween, there's a family dollar who puts out one shelf of Halloween decorations in August. Unfortunately that same store puts out two isles of Christmas décor at the same time. Go figure.

Before I retired, I use to work in a media department, and we would plan for every holiday 3 months in advance. I was always doing Halloween relation tasks at work during the Summer time, which use to be my very first sign of Halloween. Unfortunately, however, Christmas preparations would also rear their ugly heads as early as the end of September. Thanksgiving on the other hand was almost always handled in a hurry.

No matter what time of the year it is, you can always find great Halloween décor on line. I plan to do that when my next pension check posts to my bank account. My first sign of Halloween will be when the package arrives at my door step.
