Poem

Post by spookyboo » Wed Sep 12, 2007 3:35 pm

Lightning flash
candles flicker
full moon glows
I am much quicker

Deepest darkness
void of light
blackest shadows
hidden from sight

silence deafens
sound abates
ungodly quiet
but still I wait

Scent of fear
odor rotten
smell of death
your nearly gotten

Thumping heart
Bleeding time
pumping blood
Now your mine
Wild Winds thou shalt blow
carry away my saddened soul
tis the time of Judgement

September 12th!

O hushed October morning mild,
Thy leaves have ripened to the fall;
Tomorrow's wind, if it be wild,
Should waste them all.
The crows above the forest call;
Tomorrow they may form and go.
O hushed October morning mild,
Begin the hours of this day slow.
Make the day seem to us less brief.
Hearts not averse to being beguiled,
Beguile us in the way you know.
Release one leaf at break of day;
At noon release another leaf;
one from our trees, one far away.
Retard the sun with gentle mist;
Enchant the land with amethyst.
Slow, slow!
For the grapes' sake, if the were all,
Whose leaves already are burnt with frost,
Whose clustered fruit must else be lost--
For the grapes' sake along the all.

October, Robert Frost

Oh, Wicked, How'd you know I absolutely LOVE Robert Frost!! And that is one of my fav poems.

So now to the entertainment portion of our program:

Sing along with me....

On the 1st day of Halloween, my true love gave to me...
An owl sitting in a dead tree.

On the 2nd day of Halloween, my true love gave to me...
Two purple bats,
And an owl sitting in a dead tree.

On the 3rd day of Halloween, my true love gave to me...
Three candy corns,
Two purple bats,
And an owl sitting in a dead tree.

On the 4th day of Halloween, my true love gave to me...
Four ghastly ghosts,
Three candy corns,
Two purple bats,
And an owl sitting in a dead tree.

On the 5th day of Halloween, my true love gave to me...

***FIVE CREEPY CLOWNS****

Four ghastly ghosts,
Three candy corns,
Two purple bats,
And an owl sitting in a dead tree.

On the 6th day of Halloween, my true love gave to me...
Six banshees shrieking,

***FIVE CREEPY CLOWNS****

Four ghastly ghosts,
Three candy corns,
Two purple bats,
And an owl sitting in a dead tree.

On the 7th day of Halloween, my true love gave to me...
Seven witches cackling,
Six banshees shrieking,

***FIVE CREEPY CLOWNS****

Four ghastly ghosts,
Three candy corns,
Two purple bats,
And an owl sitting in a dead tree.

On the 8th day of Halloween, my true love gave to me...
Eight mummys moaning,
Seven witches cackling,
Six banshees shrieking,

***FIVE CREEPY CLOWNS****

Four ghastly ghosts,
Three candy corns,
Two purple bats,
And an owl sitting in a dead tree.

On the 9th day of Halloween, my true love gave to me...
Nine Zombies shuffling,
Eight mummys moaning,
Seven witches cackling,
Six banshees shrieking,

***FIVE CREEPY CLOWNS****

Four ghastly ghosts,
Three candy corns,
Two purple bats,
And an owl sitting in a dead tree.

On the 10th day of Halloween, my true love gave to me...
Ten black cats hissing,
Nine Zombies shuffling,
Eight mummys moaning,
Seven witches cackling,
Six banshees shrieking,

***FIVE CREEPY CLOWNS****

Four ghastly ghosts,
Three candy corns,
Two purple bats,
And an owl sitting in a dead tree.

On the 11th day of Halloween, my true love gave to me...
Eleven pumpkins grinning,
Ten black cats hissing,
Nine Zombies shuffling,
Eight mummys moaning,
Seven witches cackling,
Six banshees shrieking,

***FIVE CREEPY CLOWNS****

Four ghastly ghosts,
Three candy corns,
Two purple bats,
And an owl sitting in a dead tree.

On the 12th day of Halloween, my true love gave to me...
Twelve demons dancing,
Eleven pumpkins grinning,
Ten black cats hissing,
Nine Zombies shuffling,
Eight mummys moaning,
Seven witches cackling,
Six banshees shrieking,

***FIVE CREEPY CLOWNS****

Four ghastly ghosts,
Three candy corns,
Two purple bats,
***BIG FINISH NOW!!!!***
And an owl sitting in a dead tree.

Right on, MammaHooch! You get a bouncing pumpkin! Image

This isn't very halloweeny, but, in a lot of ways Halloween DOES remind me of Beer so, now, you can sing along with me....

Doe - The stuff that buys me beer.
Ray - The guy that sells me beer.
Me - I think I'll have a beer.
Fa - along way to get beer.
So - I'll have another beer.
La - la la la la beer.
Te - No thanks, I'm having beer...
Which leaves me with no DOE for more beer...
[Repeat in chorus with other drunken fools]

I know. I know.... No bouncing pumpkin for me.

I hate this Halloween
I wish it would pass
I'm too drunk to find my keys
and I just threw up in my mask

The music plays too loudly
there's nowhere I can find rest
all the Jack Sparrows and Neos who surround me
laugh as vomit flows down my chest

And as the room fills in inky black
to the shrill sounds of "My Sharona"
I vow to never again let my lips
touch the polished glass of a Corona

Because once you cross that bridge, my friend, the ghost is through, his power ends.

I woke up last night with the moon shining bright
a brittle, cracking noise filled the air
my skin lay in meaty clumps just empty flesh in lumps
and my skeleton stood returning my stare

"We never go anywhere I like," said my bones colored white
"We sit around this house all day.
"There is never any fun, any time in the sun
So now I've decided to go away."

What would I do alone, without my solid, steady bones?
How could he break up such a team?
"You're boring and you're dull," said my grim, grinning skull
"Sorry if that seems slightly mean."

I never saw again my boney, weird friend
even though it seems rather strange
I still have my TV and some snacks in front of me
to be honest not all that much has changed...

November first
could you be the worst?
For possibly no other day have I seen

More lonesome bats
or abandoned witch's cats
On the farthest day from Halloween

Though on the calendar I find
October 31st is just behind
in truth you are only the beginning

Of a new year of waiting
slow and painful anticipating
the sight of jack-o-lanterns grinning

Soon I'll take my place
grease paint on my face
with a silent army slowly marching past November first

As months, days, and hours
wash by like spring showers
till we embrace again October 31st

poem

Way up on the hill
I hear the winds go deathly still
for upon this woeful site
An apparition will haunt the night

At the stroke of midnight on this land
thrust up from the dirt a fleshless hand
clawing its way through dirt and grime
surfacing by the end of the chime

His empty sockets glare down in rage
with thoughts of those who put him in
his earthy cage
slowly down he makes his way
toward those who will have to pay

coming now closer still
within the town arrives a chill
and a moaning sound pierces the night
as all shudder in trembling fright

finally he emerges to take his prize
but those in town have gotten wise
locked in their houses good and sound
there are no victims to be found

rage built in what was left of his heart
he tried in vain to pull the place apart
but just as he was about to get in
when he thought he'd surely win

The chimes began once more anew
pulled back to his grave his bones flew
for the midnight hour had finally past
and his time on this earth had not last

Waiting in silence within his tomb
he would wait within the gloom
until time the bells again would chime
he would get someone......next time
Wild Winds thou shalt blow
carry away my saddened soul
tis the time of Judgement

So far so good but I will tell you its getting harder....trying to come up with a poem a day..
I haven't been this creative in awhile LOL.
By the way you weave a rich tapestry of visual elements into your poems ....
Wild Winds thou shalt blow
carry away my saddened soul
tis the time of Judgement
