I'll probably start looking for Halloween items when I get home from my vacation, which will be early August, and I have no doubt there will be plenty of stores selling them, too.

My vacation is going to be mainly hanging out at the beach, but if I can find a haunted place or a haunted grave yard on my way there or home, I'll probably stop by and have a picnic or something.

I will be headed to Michigan, and maybe up into Windsor Canada. If any of you know of any creepy or haunted places where I can stop by for a visit, let me know.

Mike

This is my first post in month. I start my Halloween season July 5th!! I try to give each season and Holiday its time, but Halloween,... It gets the most attention.

I need the time from July thru Sept. to plan, design , make ,and purchase everything I need for the events. I have already had people telling me they can't wait to see what new things I will display. Talk about pressure!!!

Halloween dead. Of corse not!!

Like all evil, wonderful fun... It rises once again!!!!!! Bwa Ha Ha Ha!!!

Let the haunting begin.

Halloween is my favorite day of the year, too. The 4th of July comes very close, but Halloween will allways be #1. I tend to do the same thing. I start thinking about the 4thof July in August, and Halloween as early as January. I even have "Little Halloween" when the 13th of any month falls on a Friday, unless it's during the Lenten or Easter season.

And starting in August, I will be cruising around for fire wood, decorations, haunted places and various other Halloween paraphernilia. Maybe I'll even post some photos.

Halloween is not dying, nor will it ever die. As long as there are people like us that enjoy Halloween, It will never die. So fear not.

I wouldn't say that. A lot of local and state governments want to ban Trick or Treat, and some yahoo in our local town government wants to put a ban on any kind of outdoor lighting displays. He claims it's a "nuisence."

Gee, I wonder if it hurt that councilman when his soul was ripped from his body?

IT hurt him when every other coucnelman voted him down, and he was the onlyone who voted for it. A lot of people wont speak to him, and I have a feeling that he won't be getting reelected to his position. Still, he claims that outlights and displays at Halloween and Christmas are destracting, cause traffic problems and are a nuisance, and constantly complains about them.

He's a DORK.

Well, I'd love to have a block Halloween party and host a showing for everyone. How much fun would that be? :)

I live in a small town in the Bible Belt. I try to be respectful of the people driving by, and do not have nasty or over the top stuff in my yard. But I have to say, even my own church preacher asked me the other day what I was planning this year. I had to laugh. It is great to have people not be so uptight and enjoy it for what it is...FUN!!!

I bet that guy got a worm in his candy apple and Santa Clause skipped his house as a kid.

LOL - I love that!!! I think I may have to use that phrase to reference a co-worker. But, in reference to the people that consider Halloween a nuiscance - well - as long as there young kids and people like us to teach them the way - Halloween will never die.

Well I guess the main thing is Halloween isn't dying its growing. I think Halloween has sometimes been labeled wrong and has been prejudiced with witchcraft and magic while that does have a little tiny part in Halloween. People have been scared and sometimes hold back due to Churches strongly scolding Halloween. I am a very big christian and I think its not that big of deal. But people are afraid of being labeled Crazy oh look at the devil worshipers, Now all of us knows Halloween is the exact opposite, Its fun Scary and the best time of the year and its about much more its about Fall, candy, Decorations Watching scary movies and just enjoying yourself. A lot of people enjoy and love Halloween but a lot of people are seasonal or will only enjoy whats in season but after its done its on to the next. But I don't believe Halloween is dying at all.

Like I said, the only way Halloween will ever die is if the government tries to kill it, and even at that, it won't be easy for them. But there are legislators who are using fear tactics to get various laws passed. A lot of communities do not allow ToT because of some fo the problems assossicated with that. Some condo and apartment complexes don't allow the hanging of electric decorations, such as lights, because it's supposedly a fire hzzard and an insurance risk. Ny nephew isn't allowed to put up such outdoor displays at his condo for that very reason. There have been a few instances where vandlism is on the rise on Halloween as well. There are a few people, primarely police officers, who have talked about banning ToT and setting a cerfew for all persons under 21 at 5 or 6 o'clock on Halloween because of all the vandlism that goes on a times.

Thankfully none of that legislation has passed, but you might want to remember the old saying about one bad apple spoiling a whole bunch. Keep an eye on your local and state legislatures. You'll be suprised how quick they will think a new law is the answer to all problems.

They've stopped having Halloween parties at the elementary school I once went to. I moved back here a long time ago after college and my daughter now attends this school. The excuse they used is that they don't want kids wearing costumes because it's not safe for them to be unidentifiable.
What a crock....
I attended that school nearly thirty years ago, give or take. We had Halloween costume parties every year while I was there and as far as I know even before then. This school has existed since 1924 and not once has anything bad happened during a Halloween celebration there, at least not that I've ever heard of.
It's a bunch of p.c garbage. They are afraid someone might complain about them having Halloween celebrations in school, I guess.
