Very sweet poems, Spookyboo, let's keep this thread alive. I'm sure if we all pull together we can keep the poems coming, and whilst it's not the same without the comic timings of a certain Doctor, I'm sure he wouldn't want us to give up and let the thread disappear into the jungle of posts.

Very nice Spookyboo! You took the words right out of my mouth.
Because once you cross that bridge, my friend, the ghost is through, his power ends.

Oh no! Don't let this thread die!

Once upon an October,
A haunting tune dances through my head
An ancient mournful ballad
As October skies loom ever more gray
And the wind shakes our shivering bones

The harvest grows plentifully rich
As orange and red seems to swallow our trees
And a breeze picks up
And the lovely leaves waltz
Through the bitter autumn atmosphere

Delighted shrieks echo down the street
Of people enjoying the weather
Parents raking leaves, families carving jack-o-lanterns
Once upon an October
~ do you think me wicked? ~

poem

Post by spookyboo » Mon Oct 15, 2007 1:53 pm

A cold crisp breeze sends shivers
to dance upon my spine
the fog sends out tendrils
snaking across the leaves like a vine

The moon shines down its
ethereal light
casting shadows
much to the phantoms delight

Tree branches creek and moan
their ghastly tune
trying to reach up and catch the moon

luminescent eyes shine
from within the dark
while darts of fear
hit thier mark

A normal person would
be frightened of this scene
but its all these things
I love about Halloween

well its not great but I am on a mission to get the poem thread re-started
Wild Winds thou shalt blow
carry away my saddened soul
tis the time of Judgement

Well done, Spookyboo and Wicked, very good reminders of why we all love Halloween!

HALLOWE'EN

The ghosts of all things past parade,
Emerging from the mist and shade
That hid them from our gaze,
And, full of song and ringing mirth,
In one glad moment of rebirth,
And again they walk the ways of earth
As in the ancient days.

The beacon light shines on the hill,
The will-o'-wisps the forests fill
With flashes filched from noon;
And witches on their broomsticks spry
Speed here and yonder in the sky,
And lift their strident voices high
Unto the Hunter's Moon.

The air resounds with tuneful notes
From myriads of straining throats,
All hailing Folly Queen;
So join the swelling choral throng,
Forget your sorrow and your wrong,
In one glad hour of joyous song
To honor Hallowe'en!

Love that image! That's poetry.
you're = you are; your = that which belongs to you

Poem

Post by spookyboo » Tue Oct 16, 2007 1:57 pm

Thanks for posting that poem Laurie it had so much calmness and serenity about it.

I am the Ghost of Halloween
and though I am rarely seen
You will always know where I have been
For I leave Trick or Treats in my wake

I glide and spook through the night
hoping I will cause a fright
better put out all your lights
and go to bed for your sake

Just as dawn is about to begin
I have one more stop before I turn in
If you hear a moaning sound within
Then your candy I did take
Wild Winds thou shalt blow
carry away my saddened soul
tis the time of Judgement

I wish I actually felt calm and serene, Spookyboo.

THE AUTUMN VILLAIN

The villain crept by on the slant
towards the Southwest
and the sunset
With his shadow lengthening and following behind him

The brim of the enormous black hat he wore was pulled down
over his eyes, his nose, and his mouth
As if predicting
Days to come when he would have to travel
in almost total shadows
To make up for all his glaring summertime excesses
--Penance for both his suns and his sins

Big brim! It sloped down and even scraped the ground
And when the wind came, draped over the tops of trees

And an investigator
Trying to peer into his eyes
could see only falling leaves....

--Michael Benedikt

I miss him......

See you guys tomorrow, there's a lot of stuff yet to do around here tonight.

I haven't been able to devote as much time to the forum as usual due to illness, and for that I am sorry. I wasn't able to write a new poem for the thread today, but I did find one on my computer from a little while ago. I hope you like it:

Blood

Blood, so sweet
Like copper angels
Flooding hunger
Saving thirsts

My mouth opens
My teeth tingle
My eyes burn
Breathing fast

Skin pales:
White as ghost,
Flesh like ice,
Blood like fire

Come to me…
Grab your clothing
Pull you close
Feel my breath
Hot like coal,
Smouldering scent,
Bittersweet death
Feel my life within you

Kiss your neck
This won’t hurt…
Bare my teeth,
See your eyes
Staring wildly,
As I bite
Tears of blood
Raining on you now

Poor little thing.
Bleeding still.
Your life within ME now…
I can feel it
Course my veins:
Ah this beauty
That which cures my thirst,
That kills my pains
But makes you weep.
You do not know
The way I burn,
Fires leap within my heart.
Chokes me half to death
When you’re not there

To save me

To bleed for me

To die for me

To become me

Five Seven Five

Post by thislazylife » Wed Oct 17, 2007 12:55 am

I wanted to pen
a Halloween poem but
my mind was all blank.

I wish I could write
"An Ode To The Pumpkin" but
what rhymes with orange?

I could paint haunted
visions with words if only
I could find my brush.

I wanted to write
a Halloween poem - wait -
This was all haiku!
Laurie stares at the station wagon as it moves past. She looks directly at The Shape inside. There is a quick glimpse of him, a strange pale face staring back.
