I've always loved to walk and sleep on the slab, maybe inside the mausoleum! This is MY job as the cemetery night watchman. ;)
Do you work in a cemetery? I think I remember you saying something about that.
Yes, that's correct.
But you don't sleep on slabs.

Did you try the door on that one crypt?
I could try the door on that crypt or whatever it is.

What better way to spend a Saturday with a sore knee than sorting through graveyard pictures?! These are some of my pics from Greyfriars Kirkyard in Edinburgh, supposedly one of the most haunted places on earth (if you believe in ghosties, that is). While stories of ghosts and ghoulies in the graveyard may or may not be true, what is true is that it is the final resting place for lots and lots of dead people. But then, what sort of cemetery would it be if it wasn't??

This is the tomb of George MacKenzie, aka "Bloody MacKenzie", the source of the MacKenzie Poltergeist:

And this is the Covenanters Prison, where over a thousand were imprisoned in the late 17th century:

Beyond the gates are several mausoleums, including the dreaded Black Vault, but I didn't go in in 2007... I'll have to dig through a box of old 35mm prints from '01 for those pics...

I love those pics Mac, looks peaceful there. I could just put up a hammock and sleep there. :)

I've got one word for you, Spooky...: Gage!!!

It's a very peaceful place, ILMM (except when they're leading groups of tourists on ghost walks there.... Then it can be a bit screamy...). In the summer, it stays light until after 11pm in Scotland, and while I was there I liked to walk around Greyfriars at around nine or ten, when it was pretty much empty.

There is a self catering apartment for rent that looks out over the graveyard, and the next time I'm in Edinburgh I'm determined to stay there. It will be almost like sleeping in the cemetery!
