I have been pondering a mini walk through that would fit in a garage...

it would be "Alien" themed, and be a U shaped hallway, you would walk in a sliding door like a spaceship and be in a hallway that looks like the hallways in the Nostromo, you would walk in and be on a "tour" but something would go wrong, the lights would go out and then rotating beacons would go on and dim red emergency lights would kick on, and smoke hissing out of over head pipes., as the tour guide led them down the next hallway a door would fly (slide) open and a queen alien would be there screaming with strobe lights flickering and ground fog piling in. then they all run out the other door to the out side...

I think this is pretty doable on a home budget really, the Alien wouldnt have to be too detailed, I think a PVC frame and expanding foam body and head painted shiny black and I already have all the foggers and lighting. The most expensive parts would be the wood and the piping I think...

I think that would be doable, too, Spooky. One family in our neighborhood has a maze constructed in their yard every Halloween, with lots of aliens and monsters and things. Somewhat like what you are describing.

I think the hardest part, and most expensive, would be constructing the set, but other then that I think it would be pretty easy to build and set up, the only thing I dont know how I would do is the sliding door on que...

I'm more into traditional Halloween monsters, but your Alien theme Halloween display does sound like a lot of fun, and I did go ToTing as a robot one year.

I have never been interested in any alien type halloween, always been spooky haunted house/movie monster type stuff, but, my daughter and I have been watching all the Alien movies and it got me thinking this could be scary too, but the environment needs to be detailed to pull it off......

Maybe someday I'll be able to do this...

I may have to bust out Aliens and watch it this weekend. All this talk has put me in the mood to watch Sigourney Weaver kick some extra-terrestrial butt :)

Hey Spooky, if and when you build this, are you going to build one of the worker-bee aliens or the Queen? I hope you build the Queen--I remember the first time I saw Aliens and she came on screen, it really took my breath away. She was so huge and impressive and scary.

dont bother with "Alien Resurrection" it stunk....

I think I'll go with a generic no-detail alien from the movie just because I have no sculpting kill, so I will back light it and try not to show any detail on it....lust PVC covered with expanding foam and rough shaped to look alien-ish

Hey Spooky, it would be really cool if you could do the Tardis from Doctor Who. Make the inside look bigger than the outside. Maybe put a phone booth in front of the garage, that would be the entrance. Surrounding the booth is a matte painted to look like a backyard, so it appears the phone booth is standing out in the open, by itself. You could even have one of your kids dress up as a Dalek. "Yooouuu wiiillll beee exxterminatted!!!"

On second thought, that would probably go over much better on the other side of the puddle. American kids probably wouldn't know what a Tardis or Dalek is.
