I was disappointed with the turn out, any other day this place is over ran by annoying, loud, little kids running all over the complex, but last night when I actually wanted them out and about (bought more candy I was going to) no one around. Turns out they all went to different neighborhoods because no one hands out candy here. I was the only apt on my section that was handing out candy. I got about 13, maybe 15 kids, some in costume some not, and as I watched them go from door to door I was the only one that handed out anything. My wife took our kids to our old neighborhood to TOT, good thing she did because they wouldnt have gotten anything here.......what a let down.
But, out of the people we did get they said ours was the best set up they had seen and we even got two good screams.

Pumpkin_Man wrote: I'll 2nd that motion, Mac. Halloween isn't just one day. It's an entire season which for me, begins in late September and goes through the 2nd of November. My decorations went up on the 28th of September this year, and will be comming down on November 3rd. It's also my favorite time of the year to visit creepy places, watch horror movies at home or go out to movies, and do other Halloween related things, like carve pumpkins and enjoy all my Halloween lights and the like. The 31st is the BIG day, but the entire month of October is Halloween as far as I'm concerned.

I know it's too long way to go from there, but... we all love Halloween, right? We always think of Halloween everyday, all year round. We will never give it up, and it's not over.... NEVER! :D

I know that this is a completely selfish and possibly odd thing to state, but I don't really like the actual day of Halloween.

I love the mythology and trappings of Halloween and consider it to be a legitimate belief system because of it's hodge-podge provenance; how it's made up from different parts of many cultures.

So when 'civilians' begin to get excited about the big day I step aside and let the parade stumble down the road until it's safe to step out again.

Does any of this make sense to anyone in here?
All you that doth my grave pass by,
As you are now so once was I,
As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.

For me, Halloween is an entire season, and it's not over until November 3rd. Tonight is my last night for the jack o'lanterns, because Wednesday morning it trash pick-up, and I have to get my pumpkins out so they won't sit in my mud room for a week, stinking up the house, but the rest of my halloween decorations will be up until Wednesday. I will not enjoy taking them down, but I dont get all depressed, because for people my age, a year is nothing. I know that before we know it, it will be time for the Halloween decorations again. Besides, in 2011, we have a "Little Halloween" in May. May 13th is on a Friday next year. Unfortunately, once again, we only get one "Little Halloween" in 2011. I might even put in to take the day off.

yes, but I am completely opposite to this, I dont care about all the back stories, or how and when (altho I know it) but I do it all for THE night for all the kids but mostly for myself because I enjoy the decorating and the set up, the projects, the planning etc etc

I still have 3 jack o'lanterns that held up pretty good. Unfortunately trash pick-up is tomorrow morning. That means that I either have to get my pumpkins out in the trash tonight, or let them fester in my house for another whole week until next Trash night. But the other decorations will remain up and will be lit tonight. My last night of Halloween decorations.

Then it's time to start the holiday cleaning. I'm hosting Thanksgiving dinner this year to boot, so I have to get the house extra spiffy. Now I wish I had saved one pumpkin for my Thanksgiving center piece. Oh well, live and learn.

Some trash departments have different schedules. Mine is every Friday around 2 pm. I know tomorrow nite is my last time to lit up the pumpkin before putting it in the trash can on Friday morning. :( Also, I will take down my Halloween lights on same day, too.
