My family was/is Scottish background...and WE always learned that it was THE SCOTS that invented the whole shebang when we came to America...it was SUPPOSED to be one of those things we came up with, along with sound banking, good whiskey, scalping, and fried chicken..
Certainly the pumpkin was created over here, and it's seen as an AMERICAN or at least NORTH AMERICAN holiday in Asia..where they have tours to see us in our natural Halloween habitat...
