Re: Scary Books
John Saul always gets the hair rising on the back of my neck. He keeps up a pretty fast, readable pace, too. The last book that I read by him that I thought was quite good was Black Creek Crossing. Some witchery in there and just a good, Halloween-ish read; it even takes place during October. Don't bother with In the Dead of The Night. Boring, and you'll get the plot right away.

King is still the king in my book (no pun).
'Cell' was a little odd at the end, but it took off right away and never let go!

OLD SCHOOL Stephen King... you can't go wrong
It is said that if you hear someone's footsteps behind you on the Halloween night, you should not turn back because it may be a dead following you. And if you commit the mistake of looking back, it is likely that you might join the dead very soon.

Re: Scary Books
I lucked out because I had just gotten into King when he reassembled The Stand so that was the first version I read, not the chopped up first edition.
I also enjoy the DVD version. Very long and sticks to the story.
