Old Boxed Halloween Costumes

Post by Catzilla » Mon Sep 24, 2007 7:16 pm

Do they even sell these ''old retro costumes'' anymore in a box ? :)
All I have really seen is stuff on a rack & mask laying in a bin in most stores.
I use to get such a thrill out of going to ROSES to get my costume...I think in the 70'S they cost all of 4 or $5.00 ! :D

Oh, I remember those things! It sure was exciting getting a boxed Halloween costume at the local store.

Do I remember them? Are you kidding? I can't remember how many I had. I do remember having a Sccoby Doo and a King Kong Boxed costume. What memories. :D

I always thought it was strange that the little jumpsuit always seemed to have a picture of the character on it, rather than simulating what the character wore. What's up with that? "Here comes the Creature from the Black Lagoon-- and look, he's wearing a picture of himself on his shirt!" Talk about shameless self-promotion.

I had a Batman costume that sort of looked like the Adam West costume on TV. I think it had the word "BATMAN" on the forehead of the mask, though! Ya gotta make sure everyone knows what you're wearing, you know.

I saw one of those boxed costumes (mint condition) go for $70.00 on ebay! The only one I can remember having was a snow white costume. Cheesy looking thing but I felt like a princess.

Jerry Seinfeld's book "Halloween" features a wonderfully accurate description of what it was like to have those boxed costumes--how cool and lame they were simultaneously.

OMG Deviledham, it's all coming back to me now. I had the King Kong, the Planet of the Apes, the Scooby Doo, and the Bugs Bunny. That's an awesome site. Great find. :D
