I agree pumpkin soup sounds delightful. I'm a big fan of allrecipes.com, and here is their most popular one:

It sounds crazy good, I might make it for dinner tonight. Thanks for the inspiration, I love you guys!

I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's. His hair was perfect.

I do the usual things - I always carve pumpkins, I always watch "Hocus Pocus" (and a few others that I watch every year in the run up to Halloween) and I always buy lots of Halloween candy when it comes into the shops and eat it throughout October I start wearing Autumn/Halloween themed clothes and earrings at the beginning of October and make/give out invitations by the first week.
Every year about October time, I also start making stews for dinner, with lots of lovely sweet potatoes, vegetables, chicken or beef and stock with herbs. And crusty bread. Mmmm I make a lot of soups too, and I love making oven bakes with pumpkins and peppers and seasonal vegetables.
As a Pagan, I also always decorate my altar with orange and black candles, and assorted Autumn decorations. On Halloween night, (if I have a party, then when the party's over), I light the altar candles and raise a glass of wine to the departed and to the living, and make my "new year" resolutions. Then I sit back and look through all the photos and eat candy whilst the candles on the altar and in the Jack O'lanterns expire naturally.

Every Halloween I do a few things.....I make my monster meatloaf, my regurgitated mashed potatoes, moldy dinner rolls. I bake lots of goodies and make halloween lollipops. We make caramel apple and candy apples.
I always make a halloween gingerbread house.
The night before halloween I make either beef stew or chili in my crockpot and then serve it from a decorated medium sized pumpkin. I use mini pumpkins as bowls.
The last thing I do on Halloween night is watch my two favorite movies....Hocus Pocus first and then finish my night off with Halloween.
I am a CREATURE of habit...lol

I watch my favorite horror movies every year but The Blair Witch Project gets watch the first Saturday of every October and Halloween is watched mid-October.
I have a "Die Tunes" playlist on my iPod that I listen to between Labor Day and Halloween.
Other than that nothing too ritual specific unless you count coming up with a new costume, putting my decorations out, etc.
Oh and I also try to read at least one horror novel between now and Halloween.

My friends and I always take a moonlit drive out to Devil's Den (State Park) with the top down. The park is about a 25 minute drive and last year it was PERFECT. We go to our favorite picnic spot and stargaze and talk. It may sound sort of silly but it holds a special place in my heart. My friends and I also take turns picking a horror/thriller movie each night of the week during the week of Halloween. Last year they made me watch Rosemary's Baby. I can handle anything BUT that. I have a hard time sleeping whenever forced to watch it.

I try to get out and find the haunted houses--this is tackled pretty early on in October, looking up listings for haunts. I make an effort to see what I can, whatever is nearby and in budget, drag a couple of good friends along. I also try to haunt at least a window or two in the apartment, add some pumpkin images and a flickering light or maybe something glowing.

I try and go to as many haunted attractions that we have around here, Put up my decorations, buy some new ones, wear my pumpkin pj's, have pumpkin mocha from starbucks and hot apple cider. I also make my apple and pumpkin dishes and take walks in the evening when the leaves are falling and the air is crisp, but that is more of a fall thing.
“Come let us meet, with charm and spell, by magic arts our fates to tell.â€Â
It's difficult to stay in a Halloween mood when it's 90 degrees outside. I want to get some apple cider but it's too darned hot to drink a warm beverage. I want to pull out the fall clothes but you sweat doing anything. I thought we had broken the heat but summer came back with a vengeance for one last hoorah.Haunted Horseman wrote:Boo Booo Booo Summer....Hiss Hiss Hisss...
