... I get really excited when it's June and my son announces what he wants to be for Halloween!

Now, I just need to figure out how to dress up minion no. 2, who joined my brood early in June a la my second "splash and slash". Wanted the hubby to photograph my guts... but he was more than slightly distracted. Bugger only took TWO photos in the OR, and both of them were of our little girl! Bah!

The mere fact that he was in there is proof that he is more of a man that I would ever be.

I don't do hospitals very well.

I'm so jelly Jadewik. You having rugrats. Now you can get away with going
trick-or-treating again. I wonder if I could rent kids just for Halloween night?

Well, today is July 4, so soon we'll be sliding into fall. I hope more old faithfuls show up!

Jadewik, I missed this page when I posted. Congrats to you! A son and now a daughter. The best of everything!

Mine are all grown now, but I must have done something right. My second son is working in a grocery store that schedules him on holidays, including today. But he's OK with it, because, as he says, on the 4th of July, the important stuff happens at night. And then he added, same as Halloween. He is already planning for Halloween night off.

katana is a good plan, are you going to make her traditional or spooky?

I think I may go with the Day of the dead look myself, but time will tell.

I am done with the whole brood-making thing. The first put me in the hospital for 6 weeks with pre-eclampsia. The second gave me gestational diabetes... Two is good... especially with me almost dying once. I'm pushing 40 if I wait the recommended 2 years for the incision to heal... I don't want a kid at 40. Ugh. Geeze... now I feel old.

Minion 2 is now 1 month old. Minion 1 is 4.5... he said he wants to be Robin (from Batman Lego Movie)... but I dunno if I'll have time to sew his costume.

Minion 2:

Hubby made the shield and the belts. I did the sewing for Minion 1 as Link (2016):

... and Batman (2015):

Adorable kid pics!

I had my daughter at 42, but I wouldn't have done that if I'd already had a girl. My first two were boys. I understand your decision to stop at two.

Whenever I think about family size, I am reminded of something I learned at a family reunion back in 2013. All of us in that connection are descended from one Revolutionary War soldier. That man had fifteen children. And I am descended from #15! Crazy to think how so many of us wouldn't be here today if that guy back in the 18th century had thought that fourteen kids were enough.

My family is huge and long-lived.

My maternal grandfather was born just before the turn of the last century, so the late Victorian era.

Mom was born 100 years after John Adams and Thomas Jefferson passed away, so the sesquicentennial of the U.S.

My parents were in their early 40s when I was born.

And Murf; if you had your daughter at 42 it must have been by cesarean...

As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.
