Woah mama!!! Giving Oak Jacked Imperial Pumpkin Ale a test flight. I say test flight because with the first sip I flew out of my chair. This stuff has a bite! And with over 10% alcohol I'm already seeing two monitors. Oh... wait... I do have two monitors. Nevermind. Either way, this stuff is stuh-rong. On my first taste I made the pucker face, eventually it burned out my taste buds and now I'm carefully sipping it. Did come in a cool bottle though. It was actually corked like a champagne bottle.
Dark amber color, nice strong head. Very thick, you can almost chew it. Unfortunately, the oak barrel flavors are drowning the pumpkin and spices. Smell is malty, caramelly. I think. My nose is shtuffed up.
Would I pay $14 for a bottle of this stuff again? Hell no! I want my liquid pumpkin pie. Can't believe I drove all over and ended up with this. It's official... no more Pumpkinhead in town. Too popular. Even BevMo had no more and they got another shipment in after Halloween. Told the guy at Keg n Bottle near San Diego State about Pumking, he said he'll see about getting it for next year. A friend brought me a bottle from back east. It really is as good as rumor says.
Edit: Cool! Just did a little reading about the Oak Jacked Imperial, the official ABV is 10.31. Those numbers look familiar to anyone?
