That's lovely, but I think for it to work it would have to be well-publicized. Also, cans get really heavy really fast! So you'd probably need to TOT with a truck or something.

I did this in college. A week or so before we dropped off paper bags we got donated by a local grocery store and attached a list of what we were looking for. We went to a well off area so we normally got some good donations (sometimes some candy for us).
