yup Nevermore slugs can be attracted to damp conditions. I know this if I placed a newspaper on the ground and it got wet my dog would say, thanks for the porage! lol So far no slugs. I purposely did not water in my green house and that might of helped. My other pumpkins are totally exposed but on a hill. One thing about vertical is you need a lot of support to hold up a big pumpkin. Today is 6/13/13 Hmmmuuuuhaaaaaaa it's still early IMO. Slugs can't keep up with the elephant ears and one of my big max's in the greenhouse is the 1st to form. I used an old trick and it worked like a charm....(offered to volunteer at a blood drive and made of with a wheel barrel full of the good stuff before anyone regained consciousness ;)
