You know it ain't bad! I don't really dig the guy that's playing Barnabus, but that's a tough act to follow.

You can also see the revival series on Hulu, which is free.
The actor playing Barnabas is Ben Cross, best known for Chariots of Fire, I suppose. I like him, but I preferred Jonathan Frid in the role years ago.

I was surprise to recognize Ben Cross as the guy who played Sarek in the last Star Trek movie. Probably wouldn't have made the connection last night when I was watching it if we weren't talking about this series.

Re: Dark Shadows Revival
Oh, yeah, I'd forgotten he showed up in that, too.
Ben Cross plays Barnabas "straight," no comedic touches as in Johnny Depp's recent portrayal. Some viewers have complained, though, that Cross's Barnabas isn't as appealing as Frid's was. I guess they found him less vulnerable in the role. To be fair, though, Cross had only 12 prime- time episodes in which to develop his characterization, as opposed to the several years Frid had on daytime TV.

Re: Dark Shadows Revival
I loved the 1991 "Dark Shadows" revival seres. Joana Going makes an excelent Victoria Winters. I watched about 3 episodes, but I had a photo shoot in Joliet at 7:30 last Saturday, so I wasn't able to watch all of them.
I am going to get the revival series from Netflix next October, and have myself a pre Halloween "Dark Shadows" marithon of my own.

Even after all these years, Dark Shadows, in whichever incarnation, is still one of the best Halloween entertainments around.

Re: Dark Shadows Revival
I caught this while bored on Saturday, and thought I was watching the original! Guess that shows how much I know...haha. I thought it was entertaining and it made me wish for fall and Halloween.

I totaly agree, Hallowe Eve. The good folks of Collinwood celebrated Halloween all yeaar round with plenty of ghosts, vampires, wearwolves, old family curses, witches, pheonixes, and a whole slew of other 'things that go bump in the night.' And back in 'the day,' we lived in an old house, which my dad converted two of the roomes in our basement into bed rooms. He had to make some kind of a "door" to get to the furnace and hot water heater and he inadvetently made a 'secret panal.' I was the envy of the block because we were among the first to have a color tv, and I hav my very own secret panal in my bedroom.

I went and saw the Tim Burton "Dark Shadows" at the Harvest Moon Drive-In. They use a low power FM transmitter for the sound, so I took my car, which has an awesome stereo in it. That move was not only a great "Dark Shadows" story and a very funny comedy, but it had an awesome sound track, which I was able to crank up the stereo when one of those great 70s oldies was playing. I was the envy of the eitire drive in as so many others had sub standard stereos or portable "boom" boxes.
