Top Ten Worst Halloween Treats

Post by Morticia » Thu Aug 18, 2011 4:56 pm

I have to agree with the majority of these, except for the hard candies with the gooey stuff inside, I love the watermelon ones! LOL!

Here is my list of the most aweful candy I ever got in my ToT bag:

ANYTHING containing licorice.
Gummy Bears
Jelly Beans
Snaps ( licorice)
Good & Plenty (Licorice)
Red Hots
Licorice flavored chewing gum
Marshmellows.

My father use to love it when I would seperate all the good stuff out from the licorice as licorice was his personal favorite candy. He ate it like it was going out of style, right up to the very day he died.

Interesting list, Morticia. Some of that stuff I'd forgotten about. None of it was anything I liked, except for the hard candies with gooey centers. Those I do like.

And I will have to cavil with the choice of "coins" as the worst Halloween treat ever. There was an elderly couple in my neighborhood who used to give out nickels on Halloween night. I loved it, and I still remember them with fondness as "the nickel people," though I'm sure they've both been dead for many years.

The only one I have to disagree with is dubble bubble. We loved that as kids for some reason! Sore jaw and all.

I always HATED smarties.

Also, I really DIDN'T like that elder couple that was giving out a triple OREO cookies in a zip-lock pack in 1985!

Yeah somehow cookies in the trick or treat bag just don't jive.

Anything with gooey caramel was always the best. Somehow TOTing and caramel go together like peas n carrots.

It makes me sad to see candy corn on here. I love them! You just can't eat too many pieces in one sitting, then it gets too sweet. We used to stick them on our teeth and pretend they were vampire fangs.

People really divide up about candy corn. I have never liked it, but my husband loves it.

Just today I was glancing at a recipe for rice crispie bars that used candy corn as an accent. I think that might be fun.

I have to agree that candy corn and the gooey center candy shouldn't be on that list! I used to love circus peanuts when I was a kid, but I would probably hate them now. What about those nasty taffy-type candies that came in the orange or black wrappers? I HATED those.
