Like Twins (a poem)

Post by adrian » Fri Oct 16, 2009 2:59 pm

this was written nearly 8 years ago now when my best friend's brother passed away.. he was consumed in anger at himself because he didn't take the time to get to know his brother the way he wanted to. i just happened to find it :)

now color me with calluses while I
acutually pass as grinning
Now if my house stood straight
its because you're the foundation
I knew you couldn't afford it but you made me a fool for nearly all 7 days
I have a habbit scratching at what i thought would be ok
it wasn't an option to go back to my place
Color me again on my face

We lived liked twins in seperate houses
We lived quite honestely like all our lives depended on our baptist ways
I'm nothing but a dry throat who says " I think i know you"

stand still, powerless and to the point. sure,
if i was an experiment to where you were to turn you head
say "i called for better and you're what they gave me... God what have you given me?"
I said "for the price that you paid me, i'd be a painting... God what have you given me?"
Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

Keep on putting that pen to paper.
This is good.
"The woods are lovely, dark and deep, and I have promises to keep and miles to go before I sleep. Did you hear me butterfly? Miles to go before you sleep."
