I think it was just sort of common knowledge. You know how some people just seem like they've got to be cannibals?
Yeah but in reality if it were common knowledge, he and his family would've been arrested a long time ago.
But it is a story, and I do like how it's got this twist to it that while he is a cannibal, the theme of the story is very laid back and relaxed.
It's a lot like anime logic really. It seems more odd than horrific. If it was made into a movie, I wouldn't mind seeing "back ground" scenes where the person is being killed and chopped up into stew. If someone walked around with cat ears and a tail, and I'm not talking about fake ones, real ones, and people didn't turn their heads and stare and just acted as though it were normal, that would be considered anime logic. At least that's how I define it. I think your story is a good example, because it's an odd occurrence, but it's out in the open as common knowledge and few people seem to be bothered by it. Another good example would be if say, I was a vampire, and talked about how I enjoyed drinking the blood of human beings. And people weren't bothered by it, like the character in your story who was all "Hey that's your thing."
One really whacked out anime I saw once was when a guy woke up one day with a girl attached to his fist. Literally.
In any case, these occurrences happen without a reason or explanation. It adds a bit of mystery to it. In any case, I enjoyed reading the story.
