What Are You Like
I am like a pumpkin
A hard outer shell,
Soft on the inside
A work of art in the hands of a dreamer.
I am like a child
Tasting chocolate,
And the grouchy neighbor
Who won’t turn on his lights.
I am like apple cider
Sweet and crisp
Tart and heady
And I may get you drunk.
I am like a maple tree
My roots run deep
And sometimes I blush bright red
Just before I am naked.
I am like the wheels
Of a midnight carriage
Keep me well oiled
Or I will scream as I spin.
I am like a vampire
When the night descends I hunger
And when the dawn breaks
I only want to sleep.
I am like a grave
A memorial for friends and family
Who once knew and loved me
Now cold and forgotten.
I am like a jack o’lantern
And when my light is gone
I will mold into the ground
And begin again.

I very much enjoyed that.
The dark night beckons. Bear us your soul, it whispers. Expose your wicked delights. Join the rest of us on the wind. The dark night beckons and we answer. Sailing into the shadows.

this was good
Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!
