I Ran Into The Alley!

I was headed back from
the corner grocery
It was late in the evening
and the cold wind blew

When I heard a struggle
followed by a scream
I dropped my groceries
and I went running

Running to the alley to
help someone if I could
I heard sounds of trash
cans being knocked over

I heard the muffled moans
and the kicking of feet
Scuffing the ground, pushing
and then, only silence

I yelled what's going on and
I heard a low gurgled growl
Then I saw the hideous face
of a vampire staring at me

I Once Loved This Lake!

I once loved this lake and
the back drop of mountains
The way the winds would
bend the evergreen trees

Teaching me a lesson which
to this day I live by
I cannot win against the tests
that I face with in life

Just like the trees, I must bend
I must be the one to adapt
I must learn to accept that which
I know I cannot change

I must work towards resolving
problems as best I can
I must be optimistic that life
holds for me a future

I have come to this peaceful place
at this time for many years
I can feel sadness here and I
had never understood why?

Then one day, as my tears fell
I saw why I felt so sad
For a woman appeared on the
surface of the lake

Her hands bound at the wrists as
she slowly turned towards me
I can't describe the anguish in
her eyes as she stared

She didn't make a sound as we
held each other's gaze
Before she disappeared below
the surface, she waved goodbye

I Heard Sounds Near My Porch!

I had just pulled into the
drive way about 11 pm
It had been a long drive
from Lexington, Kentucky

I was glad to be back at
my cabin and be home
I had stopped at the local
mom and pop grocery

Picking up potatoes, beef
Celery and corn green beans
I had almost forgot the beef
stew mix for tomorrow

I would let it simmer in my
crock pot all day long
Making sure to add flour at
the end to thicken it up

As I shut my trunk lid and
headed towards the porch
I heard something in the
bushes next to the steps

I thought it might be those
pesky raccoons again
Worse yet, it might be a
skunk as I got my flashlight

Suddenly I was knocked to
the ground, Oh my God!
A woman was sitting over me
and her eyes were glowing red

I Don’t Own A Cat!

Now, I'm not one to get the
jitters or get scared easily
But I have a problem and I
don't want to sound crazy

But I moved into this small
apartment not two weeks ago
And ever since, strange things
have been going on each day

First off, I came home and my
Knick-knacks on the sill had fell
All five are laying on the floor
a sixth one is over by my chair

Then I found black hair on my
pillow, mine is brown
Someone or something has been
in my apartment, but who?

Then, a few days later the cushions
on my couch were frayed
As if a cat had been sharpening it's
claws and I don't own a cat

But the worst of my fears came
true when I was watching TV
Between the TV and the couch
a black cat appeared and hissed

Its teeth bared at me, its eyes
angry as if it was possessed
It hunched its back and growled
a growl that gave me shivers

Its eyes glowed red, then the
cat vanished before my eyes
I don't know what to do, who
to talk to, who will believe me?

I Don’t Know Why!

I don't know why that house is
still standing after the murder's
It's an eye sore, all boarded up
no one will ever buy it

They say if you walk around
the outside on a full moon
You can hear their screams
voices pleading for mercy

Why they paroled a mental case
back into our community
I guess I will never know and I
know that poor family can't

A knife is a slow death compared
to the speed of a bullet
He cut the phone lines first, that
sealed each person's death

I couldn't raise my hand when they
asked for volunteers to clean up
The rooms, halls and bedrooms
left a trail of blood behind

What had that family done to him?
why did he play God that night?
It hurts me so deeply to know that
they had little ones

I will never go near that house for
it has been whispered by many
If you come to close, you'll see a
curtain move as sad faces stare back

I Called To You!

Wrapped in the darkness I
called out to you
I was waiting for you at the
bridge in the full moon

The moonlight lit a path
to guide you to my arms
As I saw you running, I
opened my arms to you

I licked my lips, feeling my
fangs against my tongue
You will soon be mine for
eternity, I whispered

Gently I kissed your neck
pressing against your vein
Until I heard you moan as
I drank from you again

When I was done, I felt
your finger wipe my lip
As tasted and smiled I
turned my neck to you

With unquenchable desire
you took from me
Each knowing that soon
we would never be apart

Count Dracula!

For centuries, he has walked
among the dead
But to continue, he must feed
on the living

His appetite for blood equals
his desire for pleasure
And for each beautiful woman
he sees, he imposes his will

She cannot resist him as her
gown falls to the floor
He turns away at the sight of
her silver crucifix

As her eyes drink in his hunger
for her, she tosses it away
Because she wants to be taken
as he quenches his thirst

She sways and moans as he feeds
as her arms wrap around him
Pulling him deeper and deeper and
she sighs until he returns

After The Snow Had Fallen!

The north winds howled all
night in the Rockies
The mountains were blanketed
with heavy snow that night

I have lived in this small and
simple log cabin for 7 years
Isolated, yet not alone because
I have felt someone near

A loving spirit that comforts me
and I feel her presence clearly
Some might believe that since
I live alone, I'm just lonely

But I swear there have been nights
where I have felt her caress
Soft and loving, desperate to feel
my touch upon her cheek

Last night I opened the door, and
as snowflakes danced in the wind
I called out to my unseen lover to
give me a sign that she was real

That night, I slept restlessly and
I felt myself toss and turn
Then, when daylight awakened me I
went outside for some firewood

And there, standing with her head
looking toward the snow I saw her
Frozen in crystal clear ice, I saw
a tear drop on her cheek

If I Were A Stranger

If I were a stranger traveling
through the solar system
And I came across this planet, I
wonder what I’d think?

Surely I would have advanced
equipment to analyze data
I would see that this planet was
heavily polluted on land and water

I would monitor communications
and hear the bickering threats
I would see the weapons aimed
at other countries people

I would see the disease, the poverty
the death that claims the weak
I would sense their fear of me and
that knowledge which I possess

I would easily understand that I
could help this backwards world
Yet it would be wiser to leave them
to their own destiny and fate

I Am A Stranger To This World

I was picked up by one of our
space ships 3 earth days ago
Rejoining my own worlds people
with so many tales to tell

I can’t believe that 5 years have
passed since I was dropped off
To walk among and study these
people who seem to bicker
They bicker over the land they
walk upon, they kill with ease
Be it their neighbor, their mate
and sadly even their children

I am but a visitor and in all that
I have witnessed I shake my head
Telling my Council that this world
is too backwards to be contacted

Humans as they call themselves
dig and claw in vanity
Their minds are clouded with the
selfishness that breeds jealousy

It is that jealousy, that unhappiness
that makes them take from others
None seem to ever be satisfied to
help their own people’s plights

Their world is so polluted, their own
world is dying, and few seem to care
One by one they rape their planet of
the resources they need to exist

What good will all their wealth be if
in the end, life as they know it stops?
When nothing remains, and they run
amok in the streets screaming?

I’m glad that I leave this world behind
there are other worlds to help
Where they have learned it is not the
one, but the many that count

The Council Of Seven

As we passed the second planet
our ship slowed and stopped
Because on this journey as we
have done for the past five years

The Council of Seven have held
a conference to decide a fate
The issue before them now was
a difficult and complex one

Should we make contact with this
reckless and polluted world?
Having knowledge of how much
of a danger they present to us

Should we intervene for their own
good, disabling their weapons?
Or instead, to leave them alone to
be victims of their own destruction?

Each Council member stood before
the Debar, and presented evidence
Evidence of greed and ruthlessness
of the eagerness to destroy

We were well aware of the weapons
that could be used against us
If we were to approach or land on
their planet and many nodded

There was even talk of destroying the
world below us for the good of all
Because people from other world’s
from time to time pass this way

As always, I was the last to speak and
once more, I spoke for billions
“I shall not attempt to dispute all of the
facts, Council members have stated

I stand before the Debar, the lone voice
for billions of beings of this world
It is true that their ignorance defies logic
it denies them peace and happiness

I state this plea on their behalf whether
it is for their benefit or not
It has never been our purpose to travel
to other world’s to destroy other’s

We may disagree with the progress of
a planets evolution
The vote we make places billions of
beings in a life and death balance

If any decision is made, it should be
that we do not contact this world
Further, that we build a space beacon
nearby to warn passing ships

Perhaps in this way, a medium can be
reached towards their final outcome
For I agree to share our technology
and advances would be a mistake”
