Re: Lightorama
I would like to, but I don't know much about it. I need to do some research.

Re: Lightorama
I went to their website. I like the technology, but I really need to do some planning before I commit to buying something like that.

Some of the example videos are very cool. I'm sure there are a lot of uses and instances I could apply this to. Just got to scratch the ol' creative brain.

Re: Lightorama
you just missed the sale, but fear not another one coming in June, last year it was the 21st.
As far as costumer support they are the best.
I started out small, 32 channels, and with all the software and cables ran about $600, extension cords is the next big thing, and now I just added 16 more channels, so another $112 in cords, [walmart has the best deals at 7 bucks for a 40fter]
I spent every spare moment synching songs from april til oct last year and had almost an hour and a half of music.
I had so many people stopping by every nite it was great, made it all worth while to see the kids ooh and aaaw.
This year I plan to spend most of my time building props, and moving across country, so I'll have a fresh audience to dazzle.
here's one of my vid's, doesn't do it justice though.

Re: Lightorama
I was chating with my wife at dinner and she thought it might be fun to start with the 16-channel and sync the pumpkin patch to music. I'll be checking that sale in June.

Re: Lightorama
That's a really good deal, but I don't know if I can put them together myself. I'm I just lacking confidence? Do I need a soldering iron? Any thoughts?
If these are just the boards, what else do I need? Casing, cables, etc?

Re: Lightorama
I didn't look to close til now, maybe not such a good deal, you'd have to get all the rest of the stuff. It does look like they have been soldered though.
What I did was these
http://store.lightorama.com/ctascpa.html
Took me about half an hour to build, make sure you mark the wires as you go, I made tags for every wire, then as I setup the display I even tagged every ext. cord so year after year, it will be easy to setup.
On the sale they were $180
Last summer I think I paid $189 at the sale.
Also depending on where you're pc will be located, make sure you get a cat 5 cable long enough. I bought a 100fter so I'll have enough no matter.
If you do go the soldering route, they stand behind your work, any problems, ship to them and they will repair your damage for free, how many companies crazy enough to do that?
I researched animated lighting, and another co who's name escapes me right now before I bought, LOR wins hands down.
