The Flying Crank Ghost

Post by spinergy2002 » Thu Apr 23, 2009 4:01 pm

Does anyone dable in FCG building. I have built a few and I am working on one called a Hitcher. Its a alluminum frame, with two grainger 6rpm electric motors. the end product show 3 ghost s that give the appearance of hitch hikers.

These things are a great addition to a yard haunt, and they are fun to build throughout the year. Anyway, just curious if anyone else out there builds.

what does FCG stand for?

Sounds interesting.
All you that doth my grave pass by,
As you are now so once was I,
As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.

FCG stands for Flying Crank Ghosts, they are home built automated props.
Take a look at this site..... http://www.kickthefog.com/fcg_guild.htm

This is the flying crank ghost builders guild.

Wow, that kind of looks like what I'd want for my realistic looking haunt idea...except I would want the ghosts flying around instead of just being there.
This probably seems crazy, crazy, a graveyard theory,
A ghost tried to approach me and got leery.
Ask him a question and he vanished in a second...

You can do that all of the FCG projects on that site are automated, and theres a lot more than one particular way to set them up.
When you prep the cheesecloth just right it looks incredible under the blacklights.

If you are ever interested in building something similar there is a few websites out there. The best one by far is http://www.phantasmechanics.com. They give complete explanations for small projects and they help guide someone just starting out through the process.

If you guys like this kind of stuff theres a link on phantasmechanics website to http://www.laffinthedark.com/ . Spend some time on this website it, is so old school, it documents all kinds of old dar rides going back to the 1900's. It literally takes an hour to go through all of the stuff they have, probably more. I got a lot of good ideas from some of the old photos of the early props. Just an awesome site, enjoy!

You know; each time I read the subject line I think of Richard Pryor...
