Coloring Eggs

Does anyone still color eggs here? I don't think we got around to it this year, but when I lived in New York my mom would insist on coloring eggs.
Usually we'd get an Easter egg kit. We tried to find one that had as much stuff in it as possible to get creative with the eggs.
Does anyone use the egg kids, or do they use vinegar and food coloring?
Do you just dye them, or do you prefer to go wild and crazy with decorating them?
One of the cool tricks is to take a clear or white crayon, draw something on it, and then it shows up when you stick the egg in the food dye.

When my kids were little we colored them with crayons and then dyed then. We stoped dying them because I was the only one who liked hard boiled eges, deviled eggs or any thing like that. :(

I think the coloring them part is fun, but eating them is the challenge. I never end up eating all of mine.
But as I said in another thread, they are good with toast.
Also, I don't know how you do your Macoroni salad where you're from, but you can put your hard boiled eggs in that.

Now that I learned how to boil eggs properly, I am actually going to color a dozen for Easter this year.

I color mine with those Paas kits. I don't make a big deal of it, as my kids are older now, but I do enjoy coloring the eggs around Easter. My husband adores deviled eggs, so no problem eating them up!

Paas makes a pretty nice kit. I picked one up at the Dollar General store that I plan to use for Easter. Has cute little kittens and puppies on it. Fits my personality to a T. lol.

I just use these dye pellets. You have to boil some water with vinegar, and they come in 8 different colors, so you need 8 cups, one for each color.

When my younger sister and I where still young enough for the Easter Bunny, my older sister would draw a design on some of the eggs with a white crayon. The white crayon would not take on the color of the dye, so a magical picture of an Easter Bunny, or a design, polka dots and a whole host of other little magic moments.

My mom actually just mentioned today that she was looking forward to coloring eggs this year.
I never do seem to get around to it. I hope I get to this year!
I love using the little white crayon to make the egg designs appear.
Maybe I can make Macaroni salad or deviled eggs with the left overs...hmmm...lol

My daughter and I still dye eggs on Easter Eve. I have a deviled egg casserole I like. It's supposed to be made with spinach noodles, which were easier to find back in the '80s, when I first got the recipe, than they are today!

Spinach noodles? That sounds good and healthy. I love the taste of spinach haha!

I am planning to this year, but again, doesn't mean I'll get around to it.

Very pretty! My daughter and I did that on Saturday. This year I also colored a few artificial ones I found at Walmart, which are made for dying and keeping from year to year. They don't take the colors as vividly as natural eggs do, though.
