Music Taste
Remember when I said I liked country? And hated rap and metal? That's kinda changed now. Country's alright but now I listed more to metal and some Eminem.
What's your taste?

Re: Music Taste
Depends on my mood, but what attracts me to music are unusual or exceptional vocals. I like female vocalists such as Sh@kira, Norah Jones, Duffy, and Linda Eder. Male vocalists including Davis Gaines, Anthony Warlow, Luciano Pavarotti, and Andy M. Stewart. Bands with unique vocalists like Creedence, The Darkness, Queen, The Proclaimers, The Poor Clares, and R.E.M., my all time favorite band. If I'm listening to the radio and not tuned to NPR, I'd choose a thrash metal station or a classical station, but never country or rap. I liked alternative at its inception (Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Soundgarden), but modern alternative bands all sound the same to me now.
And even though I don't understand a word of it, I LOVE Opera!!!!

Re: Music Taste
My favorite is alternative/modern rock, but I don't lock myself into it. Although I don't like country, rap, teeny-bopper pop, or easy listening, I might happen to like a song that falls into one of those categories.

Re: Music Taste
I listen to a lot of stuff but musically I love the guitar and I play the guitar but my influences are definitley in the classic metal, hard rock...but starting in the 60's with the Doors, Hendrix, Clapton, but the biggest influences were Santana, Zeppelin, Van Halen and then Sabbath, Priest, Maiden and Dio...but I also listen to classical guitar and some latin music as well...
Also love some hair bands from the 80's like Scorpions, Guns N Roses, Motley Crue, Ratt...
Lately someone has turned me on to Disturbed and Garbage....which I thank her for

They say that life's a carousel
Spinning fast, you've got to ride it well
The world is full of kings and queens
Who blind your eyes and steal your dreams
Its heaven and hell, oh well
I am Vengeance...I am the Night!
I swear to God...[Batman]SWEAR to Me!!

Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

Re: Music Taste
Wow, my tastes in music are WAY different from yours. I listen to old stuff. Mariachi, Norteno, and rarely Spanish rock. It's just what I grew up with. Today's Latin music just sickens me. All they can sing about is drugs, cartels, or other perverted things. It's just wrong. I absolutely despise rap/hip hop.

Re: Music Taste
No Opera?! No Opera!?
Love Bizet's opera Carmen. I'm also a fan of "O Fortuna", which is the first movement of Carl Orff's opera Carmina Burana... which I'm quite certain you've ALL heard and LOVE... you just don't know that you actually like this opera song. It's used in the soundtrack for a lot of movies. I suggest googling it and checking it out on YouTube. Serious.
I like a variety of music, but I mostly enjoy alternative rock or baroque music (which is often lumped with classical). Favorite bands? AC/DC, The Offspring, Citizen Saint (local band I'm friends with)... I also like Megadeth... and Green Day (another local band from P-town-- that's Phoenix for all you cool cats).
NOT a big fan of rap. NOT a big fan of country-- but there are occasional songs I like. Hip-Hop and Pop are also hit-or-miss. Techno depends on the techno... and occasionally I'll pull out a little Dimmu Borgir if I want a little Black Metal. Or play SuoGan for some boy's choir/welsh lulaby yummyness.
Put on some 1950's tunes and I'm happy too. The 1910 Fruitgum Co, Beatles, Doors or Rolling Stones. Elton John, Steppenwolf... yadda, yadda.
I like variety in my tunes.

Re: Music Taste
Since it's summer now it's all about mid 20th century pop music.
Think what might be playing on the Hi-Fi in the background during a Stepford barbecue.
