These are pics of my trip to the historic cemetery in Galveston Texas, most of these are from the 1800 and early 1900's. there are a lot of Confederate soldiers buried here as well.....There are about 4 or 5 sections to the graveyard, one is the Jewish section and there are historic, more modern, etc....

Inside that same Crypt....

I found this grave stone the most depressing of all of them that I read, can you tell why?

Beautiful. Love the flowers all over the place. Gives it a surreal feeling.

my wife liked the flowers too, the last time we went there (after these pics were taken) they were all mowed down...

This cemetery reminds me of one here called Crown Point.
Very old and lots of statuary.

Those are some very beautiful and unique monuments. It also seems a wide veriety of folks were burried there. You have Jews, Confederate Soldiers, and a whole host of others. I bet the stories in some of those tomb stones would keep us on the edge of our seets.

Could you share a few of them with us? I'm asking, because I might be interested in a Haunted Road Trip down to Galviston.

well, I only really have the pics, I dont know any details of cemetery, heres a youtube video of it and this information....

"Evergreen Cemetery is in the group of Seven Cemeteries located on Broadway between "Broadway, or Ave J as it is also known" and Ave L, and 40th to 43rd St. Evergreen Cemetery ( Formerly Cahill Cemetery ) is city operated and has 2,522 Graves and consists of 1.8 acres."

and it dates back to early 1800's. There are also ghosts tours of the area...

If memory serves me well, Galviston Island was hit by a major natural disaster (hurican?) years ago. Am I right? If that's the case, maybe there are some stories about the old place.

I've never seen Coreopsis growing wild in abundance around here, although considering the number of different varieties there are, I may not have recognized it. Then again, our winters are probably quite a bit colder than Texas', which probably keeps it from spreading.
