Palin Poll
Americans seem to love or hate Sarah Palin, much like Dubya (George Bush).
So, where do you stand on this potential vice president?
* I know the pic above is a photoshop.

I'm sorry, but thanks to the Republicans, I stand to lose my job, my pension and even my house in my old age because of their "serve the rich and &%$ everyone else" attitude.

I know this is the 'non-Halloween' section, but we generally get along on here so well. I don't feel that politics have a place because most people can't play nice with each other when the subject comes up . . .

SpookShadow, I think people who are directly affected by the issues that the politicians are debating about have a tendency to get angry. I usualy try to avoid expressing any major opinions. other then to state where I stand.

Re: Palin Poll
I am not directly affected by the issues, and I can get quite frustrated with my silly Democratic friends. I think when people are passionate about what they believe in and what they stand for, then, tempers can flare.

I get just as frustrated with my Republican brother and sister, but we' ve never had a situation where tempers were lost. I work in Education, so they know that the Democrats are my bread and butter.

Oh yes, the very qualities we need in the Leader of the Free World!!! This is what scares me about so many Americans: They want someone like them in the White House. Well, not me. I want someone smarter than me. And I think I could beat Palin, McCain, and Bush in a spelling-bee! Obama, however, is a proven intellectual with an ability to bring folks together from across the political, religious, economic, and ideological spectrums. She can sling a un skin and eat a bear raise kid and be a rippen awesome VP!

Obama wants to give 95% of the a merican people a tax break. McCain wants only the seriously rich to get a tax break.
If I was a millionare, billionare, or owned an oil company, I would vote for McCain in less then a heart beat. Unfortunately, I am just a working stiff like the vast majority of the American people. I can't afford 4 more years of a Republican administration.

Re: Palin Poll
I think its easy for us to be sarcastic and simplify the Republican candidates qualities and try and put a shiny frame on the Democratic candidates, but I will not. My problem is with the long haul. Barack Obama has an interesting history of ideals that I really am not comfortable with. He's a "World first" kind of guy and I think that's bad for America. I don't want to see the notion of a "World Community" become a reality because the icing will be sweet but the cake will be bitter. I do believe McCain is a America first man. His philosophies are more traditional which I like. And when you take stats and numbers away, the real thing we need to be worried about is philosophy. This is not going to be a discussion from me, this will be my only post in here. I am inclined to agree that Halloween.com is a carefree community, and I want for my part in here to remain that way.

Re: Palin Poll
Multiple opinions have been expressed stating that people feel uncomfortable discussing politics here. I happen to agree that politics don't belong here either as politics are more of a dividing factor of discussion than one that would unify this community-- not only is there the division between parties in the American system, but there are also readers from other countries on this forum. On that note and as a moderator, I'd like to ask that you please refrain from political discussion on these forums.
If you'd like to continue your political discussions, I'm asking that you please continue it in a place that's better suited for such discussions (such as http://forum.rights.com/ )
Thank you.
