Okay so I heard about World Of Warcraft online gaming. But i've never been a computer gamer, much less an online gamer. But.. I let my brother talk me in to joining World Of Warcraft. So...one W.o.W game, 2 month pass card, and logitech headset later..here I am. Getting ready to embark on this thing that has up to 9 million players. Am I in over my head?

be careful, that game is HIGHLY addictive-seriously  i don't play, but i have about 10 friends who play and they've all followed the same pattern.

*play warcraft non-stop
*stop bathing
*stop cleaning the house
*calling into work to play
*only order take-out food
*won't leave the computer

goodluck nos!

Oh no no no, that won't do at all. I will definatly not let any game take that kind of control over me. That's insane.

Nos, I know you're not a big South Park fan..... (that WAS you, right?) Anyway.... Speaking of Word of Warcraft, I love the SP episode from season 10 called 'Make Love, Not Warcraft'. The boys get roped into trying to take down this ultimate gamer and they end up the way Kallie is talking about, exactly! It's hilarious!

Image Hmm... What have we here?
EPISODE 147

I should probably say that it you want to watch it a few pop-ups will pop up. Just close 'em out. ALLSP is a good site. I use it a lot and have never had any problems.

Hey Nos, Welcome to WOW, my hubby has been a member since um  around 2001 I think it was. He went through a heavy addiction period with it, but like any addiction there were issues that caused the game to entrance him "it was his only escape" from work related issues at that time. He's still a member but of course doesn't play to often anymore due to his new job and the weather is still good enough to keep him busy with his other hooby "RC Flying" when he's at home, just like right now he's still out flying.

I've wanted to join for a while, but hubby said my PC can't handle it, well he explained all the pc tech related reasons, but I just said to him " um Laymans terms please!" and well I guess I need a new pc before I can join, so that's going to have to wait for a good while, but thats probably a good thing cause man I use to be able to watch him play for quite a while , it just looks so amazing.

Hope you enjoy it Nos :D

From what I hear, maybe the game is too good. I may have opened a can of worms.

Eh... I had a WoW account. I think I got up to lvl 10 and got bored because, shortly afterwards, I started playing City of Heroes and City of Villains. I have a lvl 35 villain-- being a bad guy can be so fun and the mayhem missions are so fun!

... I like Heroes/Villains better than WoW because it's more interactive and you're OK playing solo. In WoW, you more or less have to team up with people and it sucks if everyone is already lvl 70 and you're barely starting out.

However, I've since had to stop playing both.... I didn't feel it was worth $17/mo if I hardly ever had time to play.

As much as I play (and disdain) the First-Person Shooter (FPS) games and the massive milti-player role playing games (MMORPGs) I'm an adventure gamer at heart.... there's nothing I enjoy more than a few puzzles and a plotline. =)

Hey jadewik, ya hubby was going to renew his account this trip home but then decided he probably wouldn't have time to play much this trip anyways so he decided to hold off. All I know is that he's a level 70, can't remember anything else about his charactor

Tell me more about City of Heroes/Villains

It's a lot like Wow. In WoW, you get quests and as you complete the quests, you get skills... which let you train (for a price) and get more abilities. Fighting is really boring-- at least I thought it was-- you just click fight once and your character continually hacks at whatever 'till it's dead or you die. You can, if you build up enough of either a white or red bar (I forget, since it's been about a year since I've played WoW) use special attacks. You also get to pick an occupation. That's kinda fun too.

CoH/V is a little more complicated... but that's probably why I like it more. You still get tasks. You still level up as you complete these tasks. Every other level you get two extra power slots or a new power. Powers are chosen from the pool sets... and some of them are pretty stellar. You also get better costume choices in CoH/V-- thousands of choices... in WoW, your choices per character type are limited to 10-or-so... so chances that you'll look like other characters are high. You have more personal identity in CoH/V. The only other major difference between WoW and CoH/V is how you fight. In Heroes/Villains, you are constantly engaged in battle-- choosing which attacks you want to use, when you want to use them-- In Heroes/Villains you can start out with a special attack, whereas in WoW, you have to earn special attacks and wait for them to "charge up" first.

I guess it's a matter of preference...

I think WoW updates the game regularly. CoH/V updates quite a bit and they have special holiday events-- trick-or-treating at Halloween, a special Christmas area... and tasks associated with the holidays to get special items to keep. I believe WoW does the same thing.

Hey Nos, so what did you think of the game then? I take it that you enjoyed yourself. What character did you pick out? What server are you in? My hubby is a Tauren and if I ever get to join I think I'd chose to be a Blood Elf
