I realize the yar might get a little "gamy" but I would wait until it cooled off. Of course, I am over 50, and a little mroe prone to heat stroke, but still, heavy labor in temps like that can be dangerous.

My solution is to pay someone else to do it, or plant a yard that is made up of drought resistant, native plants.

Or a yard full of rocks and cacti.
All you that doth my grave pass by,
As you are now so once was I,
As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.

Forest Fires that consume +607 square miles of land.... and rain ash and soot for miles around. AND, to make matters worse, there's no rain in the forecast for several weeks.

... nature does its own controlled burns, it seems.

I guess one man's trash is another man's treasure. This morning, it was storming and hailing, so a motorcycle ride to work was out of the question, and it appears that it's going to be that way all day. At least it's a work day, so I won't be chomping at the bit to go riding and waitinc for the rain to let up. The weather is supposed to clear up by tonight, though, and bring along with it, some cooler temps.

Some people are highly suceptable to poison ivy and oak. How would you get rid of a thing like that? My older brother had a problem with it inhis back yard, so he bought himself two or three fo the biggest containors of Round-Up he could find, and sprayed it all down. It got rid of the poisen ivy. Unfortunately it also killed every other plant in the area where he spraid, as well, including two young trees that his wife planted for shade.

WOW!!! If I could get someething like that to grow in my garden, I would probably never get around to even planging pumpkins. The rabbits and squirls would also have a harder time with those two then they do with my pumpkin patch.

I don't remember if it was Round-up or something else I got at K-Mart, but I sprayed it directly on the leaves of the poison ivy, and it killed the plant down to the roots. I was careful not to spray it on everything else, although whatever I used wouldn't have affected shrubbery, just leafy plants like flowers or good vines, you know. That spray poison ivy killer is really good stuff, but you do have to be very specific where you pray it. Just wet the leaves of the plant you want dead.

We have had temps above 90 every single day this June. One day got up to 101 in Murfreesboro, where I live. If you must do yard work in weather like that, you need to leave it for the later evening and hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. I did mow my backyard last Saturday evening. No way would I have done that at the peak of the temperature, though.
