Well my roomie from India is Christian, but you guys are very right.
We have to respect each others' ideas, customs, and ways of doing things.
I don't walk into another country and throw my weight around because I'm American, and no one else should do it either.
It's all about mutual respect...which is sadly missing alot these days.

But with the roomie I think I have it all worked out, finally. I just said look, this is the way it's going to be! lol

Some times that's what you need to do. Halloween is a highly celebrated holiday in the United States. The majority of us enjoy it and celebrate it, and I wouldn't take down my Halloween decorations for anyone. In fact, if some Halloween hater complained about my decorations, I would go out and buy even more decorations and put them up all over the place.

Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

Adrian, opinions are just like that word you used. Everyone has one, and they ALL STINK! If I were to try to impose my religious beliefs on non beleiving people they would resent it. By the same token, I don't want agnosticism or atheism imposed on me, either. I celebrate Halloween and decorate because it's fun. I don't need anyone telling me how "wrong" I am or how "Inmature" I am, or how "chidlish" I look when I turn on my teathered bat, or light my lighted halloween display.

Last night, about half an hour after I got home from a hard day's work, one of my brothers was in my area. He had car trouble and had to wait for a two truck, so after the two truck picked up his car, he came over to my house to wait for his wife to come and get him. I would have given him a ride myself, but he had already called Sandy, and she had already left.

I thought we would relax with a little music, so I fired up my stereo, and when I did my two jack o'lanterns lit up right with it. His reaction was "Mike, you are FIXATED on Halloween. You really need to get into something different this year." Now he's my brother, and I love him. Despite that, as soon as he said that, I smiled, and proceeded to light up every other Halloween decoration, and the candle in my jack o'lantern. He just shrugged in a "He'll never learn" manor. Now again, he's my BROTHER. He's my FLESH AND BLOOD, and I still would not tolerate his imposition of his ideas onto my life style. If I won't tolerate it from someone who'm I'm very close to, I'm certainly not going to listen to some stranger with UN TRADITIONAL ideas about life, and about holidays.

We all seem to be from a 'like' mind and breed...not sure why others are that way. I don't push my beliefs or ideas on anyone else but man, there sure are those out there that love to pee on my parade...
They say that life's a carousel
Spinning fast, you've got to ride it well
The world is full of kings and queens
Who blind your eyes and steal your dreams
Its heaven and hell, oh well

I am Vengeance...I am the Night!

I swear to God...[Batman]SWEAR to Me!!

Amen to that. And it's not just Halloween. As much as I love my brother, he's like that on just about any other topic, be it religion, politics, Halloween, or anythign else. He's an agnostic, and has zereo belief in any kind of an after life. He actualy gets angry if I even so much as mention the Bible or talk about going on a pilgrimage or a retreat. Part of the reason why I decided to visit Israel next March is because of his billy-bad$%&-I-know-everythign-you-know-nothing attitude that he takes when he does not agree with something.

It makes me very angry, and I have to get my point across some how.

.
If he were my brother I'd put some purple dye in his shampoo and call it a day.

Good 'shop' job.

A lot of it is that people are so wrapped up in how they think other people see them that they stop doing any & everything that they think will make them appear childish or vulnerable.

If you believe in a religion you must be weak.

if you wear bright colors you are desperate for attention.

Etc...

My personal philosophy is that most of the folks on this planet can kiss my posterior, and I only mean that in the best spirit possible.

As David Thoreau said, "None are so old as those who have outlived enthusiasm."
All you that doth my grave pass by,
As you are now so once was I,
As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.
