I guess that will teach him not to pickup or take or hold onto things for anybody from now on...

thats pretty much the angle we went with, more of the "dont take things from other kids" kind of thing. We told him he cant have these things at school etc etc

I know that at my advanced age this seems preposterous, because it is.

Me and my buddies all the way through school carried knives because they were useful, and not because we were criminals.

I had a pocket knife when I was a kid too but i agree with the school in-so-far-as in this day and age with emo kids all over the place and no PC way of dealing with them you cant chance it, I get that, I'd be ticked if my kid was stabbed because some emo kid had a knife.......times have changed and we need to adjust.....I just felt bad that my kiddo had no idea why he was in trouble and explaining it to him didnt clear it up, so from his point of view, he was in trouble for no understandable reason
