One issue that has been on my mind is that some churches that I've been in has frowned upon christians celebrating Halloween;
I never could bring myself to "not" celebrate Halloween. I think that halloween could be made into something anti-christian, but as long as a person can separate fantasy from reality and doesn't let themselves tinker into the occult, I feel it shoudl be ok.
Has anyone else had this dillema?
What are your thoughts on this?

Re: Halloween and church
On a personal note, I've never had a problem with Halloween being a "spiritual" or even a religious issue. I've always just enjoyed it for the fun that it is.
A lot of Christians do think it's evil. What I have to say to those who do think it's evil is that, if Halloween's evil, then so must Christmas and Easter be because they also have pagan traditions and what not.
HalloweenCom has published on the Halloween.com website about the religious aspects of Halloween and All Saint's day if you are interested.
Both my grandmothers however, do think Halloween is the devil's holiday. The grandmother I live with wants nothing to do with it. However, she's been tolerant of it enough to let me pass out candy to Trick or treaters as long as I bought the candy, and we even got to order a pizza for the occasion.
I think you're right, as long as we are able to know the difference between fantasy and reality, then we're alright. I've always been fascinated with things like magic, but I never really dared to try them out because I'm afraid of being attacked by demons. (Except when I was experimenting with wicca/paganism when I was a teenager.)
But...in any case I never had any personal dillemas with Halloween...my mom has always enjoyed it and my stepfather has too...grandparents have tried to turn it into a "devil's holiday" issue, but I try not to let it bother me. I'm not going to be practicing any satanic rituals in the back yard or sacrificing humans or animals. If dressing in a costume, passing out candy, and hanging up skeletons, black cats, and pumpkins are evil, then I'm a monkey's uncle! (And being a woman, that would be kind of hard now wouldn't it? :p )
As far as I'm concerned, something is only evil if you make it evil.

This probably seems crazy, crazy, a graveyard theory,
A ghost tried to approach me and got leery.
Ask him a question and he vanished in a second...

Re: Halloween and church
Actualy, Halloween is part of a religious observance that goes on for 3 days. It stands for All Hallows Eve, which is the day before All Daints Day. After that you have All Souls Day, and it's a beautiful celebration where we pray for all of our dearly departed loved ones, and celebrate those who are in Heaven.
