Two vampire sisters, one blonde and one brunette, inherit the family ranch. Unfortuanately, after just a few years, they are in financial trouble. In order to keep the bank from repossessing the ranch, they need to purchase a bull so that they can breed their own stock. Upon leaving, the vampiress brunette tells her sister, "When I get there, if I decide to buy the bull, I'll contact you to drive out after me and hand it home". The vampiress brunette arrives at the man's ranch, inspects the bull and decides she wants to buy it. The man tells her that he will sell it for $599, no less.

After buying him, she drives to the nearest town to send her sister a telegram to tell her news. She walks into the telegraph office, and says, "I want to send a telegram to my sister telling her that I've bought a bull for our ranch. I need her to hitch the trailer to our pickup truck and drive out here so we can haul it home".

The telegraph operator explains that he'll be glad to help her, then adds, "It's just 99 cents a word".

Well, after paying for the bull, the vampiress brunette only has $1.00 left. She realizes that she'll be able to send her sister one word.

After thinking for a few minutes, she nods, and says, "I want you to send her the word "comfortable". The telegraph operator shakes his head. "How is she ever going to know that you want her hitch the trailer to your pickup truck and drive out here to haul that bull back to your ranch if you send here the word, "comfortable?"

The vampiress brunette explains, "My sister's blonde. The word's big. She'll read slow.... ("com-for-da-bul")

Maybe it's replies like these that are causing HM to leave the forum.

Yeah, why the hostility?

I didn't find it particularly hostile, just her opinion, if a little outstated. Hauntmaster is difficult to understand sometimes, and his jokes have required some explaination in the past.

I definitely don't think it's fair to say that any member or their posts could cause him to leave the forum, and if he had a problem with anyone or their posts it's his place to seek help from Halloweencom or another mod, Tantraman or myself, as I would hope anyone would.

Our members and their differences are what makes this place so great, let's try to stay away from the drama that other boards are plagued with and play nice and keep the Halloween spirit!! :D

I agree with geekmidwinter.

I guess we disagree on this one Geekmidwinter. Not trying to cause drama, just thought the post was a little rude. No one is saying everyone should agree nor that everyone should find a joke funny. I just prefer politeness. Like you said, lets all play nice and keep the Halloween spirit.
Enough said. :D

Wait, that doesn't make sense. And how did you come up with your name Geekmidwinter? Sounds like you're being hard on yourself.

HOW DID YOU KNOW???? CURSES!!

Kidding, but anyway, my screen name is based oddly enough on the title of an old Christmas carol and the title of a really good mystery novel, both called "In the bleak midwinter." I always thought the phrase was poetic and beautiful and since I'm a huge nerd, it's apropos. I suppose if I was more dignified, I could change it to Bleakmidwinter, but then people might mistake me for an Emo kid.

Or Streakmidwinter, and we'd think you're a nudist.

Hey, some married people make a point of disagreeing, and disagreeing, and disagreeing! You might even call it a sport in some sick weird, "not good weird, like Halloween weird" way. :D

Hmm how am I being rude?
What did I say that was not true?
Did adding the word vampire truly make the joke funnier?
Or really make the joke Halloween related??
Think about it....

Not disputing the truth of what you said. I don't think one could say that your statement was true or false, it is all subjective, a matter of opinion. I just thought is wasn't said very nicely. Sorry. Like I said, that's just my opinion. What can I say :?: :?
