A Dust-speck by any other name....

If thou hast any sound or use of voice,
Speak to me.
If there be any good thing to be done
That may to thee do ease, and grace to me,
Speak to me;

Hamlet 1,1
Shakespeare

I was doing a google search for pictures for another thread and I came upon this site:
http://usersites.horrorfind.com/home/horror/stormy/

Granted, I love a good chill as much as anyone but, I am personally so tired of all this 'ORB' stuff; ghosts that are mysteriously caught on film as little glowing balls of light.
There are millions of tiny particles of dust and hair and the like that are almost invisible to the naked eye. When they're floating in front of the camera lens, then suddenly hit with a flash.... BOOM! Instant Ghost!

Go to the 'Visitors Images' and look at 'Presidential Orb', for example. Um.... That sure looks like a HAIR to me!
A trick of light and a desire to see something inexplicable are the main ingredients to most paranormal events.

From the time we're born and for millions of years, it's so ingrained into our very psyches to recognize shapes, images and MOST of all, the Human face. I can stare at my carpet for a minute or two and see dozens of faces. None of which, I'm afraid, ever look like Jesus, the Virgin Mary or most currently, Pope John Paul..... have you seen THIS, yet?
http://a.abclocal.go.com/images/wpvi/cm ... ire280.jpg

We see images in toast; water-stained walls and clouds.....

~Hamlet~
Do you see yonder cloud that's almost in shape of
a camel?
~Polonius~
By th' mass and 'tis - like a camel indeed.
~Hamlet~
Methinks it is like a weasel.
~Polonius~
It is backed like a weasel.
~Hamlet~
Or like a whale.
~Polonius~
Very like a whale.

Hamlet 3,2
Shakespeare

Since Man has walked the Earth, fear, ignorance, superstition and the fear of not being in control of the world around us combined with our innate desire to find an answer to EVERYTHING has lead us into war; made us burn innocent, men, women and children and even animals at the stake and ..... of course, to see mysterious "ORBs" in the family photo.

I REALLY don't want to sound like I'm putting a damper on FUN but when it comes to the 'paranormal', I'm very suspect.

I'd REALLY like to see something that is TOTALLY unexplainable and NOT just something that can be manufactured with smoke and mirrors, Photoshop or any other computer program.

So.... Any thoughts?
SCARE me. I dare ya! :D

I love spookiness and ghost stories as much as anyone. But those photographs are unimpressive: lens flares, reflections, some item too close to the lens and flash unit, light leakage into the camera. Silliness.

Oh, lets not forget the guy taking the pictures/video, is smoking a cigarette. Then the smoke drifts through the scene and it's mistaken as "Spiritual Mist".

I smoke, so I KNOW what smoke looks like. It's smoke. Not some whispy misty spirit from the beyond.

If people looked at IR images, and after seeing everyones eyes glow, would they NATURALLY assume that the people are possessed? (Best keep these video cameras out of the hands of the religeous fanatics.)

Then there's defective film. I think we can agree that there are a lot of lazy people out there. And their not doing their job properly. So there must be loads of badly produced film for cameras out there.

Most of the bright yellow streaks are from light leakage under bright sun. That is, light has gotten to the film.

The blue/gray streaks are from flourecent lamps. Same cause... A roll of film has a light leak in the canister which encloses the film.

YES! My six months of photography class has paid off.

Saw THIS and thought of this topic. They have a How-to on creating ghosts in pictures & video. So you KNOW we're going to see more of it.

God help us!

Wolfie, that is actually REEEEAALLLY cool and I would've given anything to have had that when I was a kid.
However, if you've got it and know how to use it, Photoshop is A LOT more fun!!!!!

That, by the way, is the fetching Mrs. OEJ and last I looked, she's very much alive!

OEJ, that's a really cool picture. Great work! By the way Ms. OEJ is a cutie, if I may say so? You are a lucky man, my friend
Because once you cross that bridge, my friend, the ghost is through, his power ends.

Thanks, Friends. I do love playin around with photoshop. I've been doing it for years. I'm sure I've posted most of these before but, here's a refresher for those of you who haven't seen 'em......

Here's one of myself and the Mrs. I did for our Halloween cards a few years back.
Image

Mine and the Mrs. fav movies in ONE!!
Image

This one just kind of lended itself.
Image

Here's one I did for a jazz album I was working one but never completed.
Image

This was another I couldn't resist doing just after Allen Colmes released his book, 'Red, White and Liberal'.
Image

I've always liked this one. Again it was for the cover of an album that I never finished, called 'Escaping Inertia'.
I actually have a bunch more with this same type of feel to it but I'm not sure they'd be appropiate for this board.
Image

I have one of me getting caught eating me cat (God rest him's lit'tel soul) but it's pretty sick and I don't want to offend our kee kee lovers here. My Dad just about through a fit when HE saw it.

That's it for now! Thanks for looking!

J' OZ = JAWS

KOZZ = KISS

Thanks, Hauntmaster..... But, KOZZ goes deepr than just that. There is, of course 'OZ' in the middle but the word becomes 'CAUSE' and what was the fab four's cause? To destroy the witch.
Not to insult anyones intelligence but, the name of the real album is 'DESTROYER'. So, like I said, that piece really lended itself.
