EVP

Have any of you ever searched for EVP online? Electronic Voice Phenomena is the occurrence of disembodied voices on the electronic recorders of paranormal investigators. Often, they are answers to questions asked by the investigators, or seemingly so. They can probably be as easily discredited as most photos (apparently illuminated particles of dust are considered "spirit orbs" by some) but EVPs have that added spooky feeling.

A Google search can find many examples of this. You might find it interesting to give a listen to some of these "ghost voices."

I have heard EVPs on the tv show Ghost Hunters. Listening to them gives me chills!

I have heard of this and I believe it was this concept that was the core of the movie "White Noise" - I haven't seen the movie myself, but it might be cool for you to check it out if you are interested in this phenomena :)

To be honest, except for some rare examples I think most of it is self imposed, people take a jumble of noises and attibute words to them.

However, there have been a handful I've heard that sound like actual talking, so who knows??

EVP doesn't have to be voices speaking.

I really don't like how the TAPS guys on the TV show Ghosthunters (or whatever it's called) do things... but when they investigated the Birdcage Theater from Tombstone, AZ... they did record what sounds to be old-timey music. (Among reportedly seeing a full bodied apparation... and they caught a rope lifting itself over the top of a bell on tape.)

I recorded the most of the show on a VHS. Maybe when I get home tonight, I'll see if I can do a brief and crappy recording with the digicam of the VHS and post it.

In the meantime, here's a photo I took inside the Birdcage (it's the only one I have uploaded at the moment) of the Black Moriah-- the hearse that carried all but 3 of the corpses buried on the infamous Boot Hill.

If someone on those shows recorded a voice saying, "Ghosts aren't real" would they air it?

What a minute...doesn't EVP stand for Electronic Voice Phenomena??

It surely does stand for that... maybe I'm getting it mixed up with another acronym that encompasses all sounds inaudible to the "naked human ear" and only able to be picked up by recording?

Either way, I'll attempt to post that video clip and let you decide whether it's bunk or not. =)

I saw that Ghosthunters episode where they recorded the oldtime music on the EVP. Very eerie, if it was true. I have my doubts about that show.

I'm only keeping these up for the weekend... so if you can watch, yay! Else... you'll just have to buy Season 3 of Ghost Hunters when it comes out on DVD.

Edit- Weekend is over. If you didn't get to watch, sorry. I can email the videos if necessary.
