Nefarious Reviews

Post by Nick Nefarious » Wed Mar 07, 2012 1:53 pm

I started a blog a while back called Nefarious Reviews where I watch and review lesser known (maybe not in this community) horror films and give them a praise or a beating. Let me know what you all think. This link is to the first installment where I review the horror comedy Lesbian Vampire Killers.

Don't have time to read the review right now, but the title of the movie made me laugh out loud!

When you get the time, check it out. It's like the Shaun of the Dead of vampire flicks.

OK, I went back and read your review. The first thing I thought was, "There is still a Blockbuster Video open somewhere?" All of those stores have closed in my town (not just Blockbuster, which went ages ago, but Hollywood Video, too). It would be downright nostalgic for me to be able to walk into one of those stores today.

We own Shaun of the Dead, so I do enjoy that type of comedy. It sounds to me, though, as if this one is aimed more at a male audience. "Girl-on-girl" action is probably a big draw for most men, but it doesn't do much for me.

That said, it sounds as if this movie would be a lot of fun for grown-ups who know what they are getting into.

Yeah, the Blockbuster thing did date the review. I wrote about 17 reviews a few years ago but I'm starting to revamp them since some financial backing came in and a buddy of mine wanted to turn the reviews into a feature short webisodes with comedy, etc.

As far as the girl-on-girl thing is concerned, I think it was just a gimmick angle for the director. Probably realized that secks sells and he would have a ton of genre fan boys dying to see it. That, or the guy is just a straight perv and wanted to see some soft core with some beautiful women under his direction. Who knows. I wonder what the original title of the script was?

I had never even heard of that movie, but I think I'd like to see it! I'm familiar with several of the actors and like them pretty well. I also like period films, and the premise does sound funny to me. Thanks for the tip!

This one actually hurt to watch. Fun to rag on but painful to endure.

Sorry you had to endure a sub-par experience, but that was actually a helpful review.

Oh, don't be sorry about that. I live for that. I love watching a completely horrible movie, then sitting back and deciphering exactly what it was that made it so terrible for me. For every 4 or 5 crummy flicks I sift through, there is one golden one that has escaped mass attention. When you find a great one, it's kinda like a miner panning for gold and finally finding that nugget that isn't pyrite.

I write these reviews with the hopes that people will find some movies that they've never heard of to watch. On top of that, I do it wondering if people read a negative review that I write up, will they watch the flick and have the same opinion, or am I way off the mark for their taste?

DISCLAIMER: This review isn't about your religion, OR my views of Christianity, any other religion, or lack thereof. This is a review of a movie that uses the horror genre as a pulpit to preach their beliefs, and ended up doing a pretty horrible job at it.
