Guess what??? Rob Zombie will begin to shoot this movie in the spring time, and it will not release until 2012. It is about the residents of Salem, Massachusetts are visited by a 300-year-old coven of witches. So, when I find out more info this spring or summer then I will keep this updated for you. ;)

Now we're talking. A new movie based on an interesting story about Salem Mass. It's about time. Rob Zombie is a darn good director, too.

So, are you very glad that RZ isn't making this as a remake??? Right, Mike?? :D If I am the horror movie director, and I wouldn't have to remake any other horror movies, I mean, all of horror movies! I have to make my own creative horror movies! ;)

I'll have to disagree with you on that one, MacPhantom. I think he did a terrific job on the remake of Halloween, which was really more a prequil then a remake. I especialy like the way he further developed the pre-monster character of Michael Meyers, and how he further developed the story as to how this geeky looking little "stick boy" became an inhuman killing machine with supernatural powers.

I would like to se how Mr. Zombie would handle Freddy Krueger and Jason Vorheese.

That's exactly what I didn't like about it. I like it better when Michael Myers is just evil, born evil, pure evil, for no reason. I'm sick of everybody having to have some kind of back-story in an attempt to make them sympathetic. I don't want to sympathize with Michael Myers; I wanna be scared sh!tless by him. I think evil without explanation is much scarier.

And beyond the rewrites, I didn't think Zombie brought anything new or particularly creative to the cinematography, and he really needs to stop putting his wife in every movie he makes, because as bad a director as he is, she's an even worse actress.

I was very surprised that Rob wanted to remake Halloween. He doesn't seem like the type that would take something that already exists and try to one-up John Carpenter. I remember there being a lot of hype when that movie was getting ready to come out even to the point where people were saying it had the potential to top the original. It was an okay movie but it'll never be as memorable as the original. I thought the 2nd one Rob did was pretty good. I would've appreciated it a little more if he had just created his own character instead of using Michael Myers.
I think Rob Zombie's kind of gone downhill in the last 10 years. I miss the White Zombie days. And yes, I am sick of seeing Sherri in EVERY movie.

Actualy that's not the way I saw the "Halloween" remake at all. I felt no sympathy for Michael Meyers at all, except for when he was being picked on. What was truely scary about that little prequil was how he became a monster, and what evil forces were at work that turned this seemingly harmless little boy into an inhuman monster. The transformation, itself, was every bit as frightening as the monster himself.

As for "topping the original," I agree with you there. There's no way any remake is going to have the same impact on the audience as did the original. I'll never forget the first time I saw Michael Meyers, Freddy Krueger and Jason Vorhees kill, and how those images scared the beejeebers out of me and also stuck with me. When you already know the story, there's no way any remake or retelling is going to have a different affect on you when you already know what it's bout.

I believe it will come out around spring 2012. I really can't promise that b/c RZ said that it should be out in theaters April 2012.

You hit the nail right on the head there with that first paragraph!

I wasn't a big fan of the Halloween remake. As for the second one, well I thought it was a complete joke! I watched it last year whilst carving my Jack O' Lanterns.

I do however like the sound of Zombie's latest project.
