I love the Ring movies. I have watched all of them, including all 4 of the Japanese movies, Ringu, Rasen, Ringu 2 and Ringu 0, as well as the Ring, Rings and the Ring 2, and even the Ring virus (the mostly unknown korean version), and I can't wait until the Ring 3 comes out.

I agree with Hooch, yay Nerds! But on the topic, for real scare factor I really like the Exorcist movies, but for seasonal ambience, I have to go with the classic Halloween movie series. I really enjoyed Freddie versus Jason, though, even though those two franchises are really more of my husband's thing than mine.
I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's. His hair was perfect.

My personal favourite horror series is the Hannibal Lector series..
Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal and Red Dragon. Amazingly good films, with genuine terror and surprise and such clever directing. Plus Anthony Hopkins is brilliant in Silence of the Lambs and Hannibal and Ralph Fiennes in Red Dragon - he plays such a good bad guy, which of course we know all too well by his rendition of a certain evil, snake-like enemy of a certain Harry Potter......
