Duke Nukem: The Movie has been closed!

Some of you probably have played a videogame called "Duke Nukem" before, some of you don't play that game... I like Duke Nukem games! I have Duke Nukem 64 and Duke Nukem: Zero Hour for N64 system as well as several games for PS1 and Nintendo GameBoy Advance.
Anyways, I was saddened to see that film was announced that its Duke Nukem: The Movie will not release because the film never made it to production... So, anyone ever heard about it before? I believe it was announced a couple of years ago.
