Director Wes Craven's Scream is heading to the small screen as a new TV series.

The 1996 slasher film, starring Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette, became a big hit upon its release and it has since spawned three sequels.

But the thriller will soon be scaring up a whole new audience as bosses at MTV are in the process of developing a TV version of the popular franchise, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

A writer has yet to be appointed to the project and it is not yet known if Craven and original screenwriter Kevin Williamson will be involved.

I never saw any Scream movies. Are they worth renting?

I've watched the first two. They are enjoyable, rather self-aware--you know, the characters are aware of horror movie cliches even as they live them, that sort of thing.

I hope its not as bad as Friday the 13th, the Series. Remember that turkey?

It was on for like three years. Something about a pawn shop that sold possesed items? Or something like that.

In other words, it had nothing to do with the movie, or at least it didn't in any of the episodes I saw.

It was filmed in Canada with Canadian actors, pretending they were American, but when they said "out" or "about" the words came out as "oooot" and "aboot"

The star was a girl with big hair and only one name. If she thought she was the next Cher, Beyonce or Elvis, she didn't quite make it!

When I say big hair, I mean BIG hair. I'm sure if they looked, they'd find Amelia Earhart, Jimmy Hoffa and Al Capones gold in her hair!
